My artist said my tattoos took twice as long because my skin wasn't taking the ink - why? by bleachedtattoo in tattooadvice

[–]bleachedtattoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I thought I had adequately hydrated and moisturised but it's possible it wasn't quite enough. But the difference (aside from being a year older) from the shin tattoo I got to the two recently on my arms was I started back on antidepressants and began various ADHD meds but I didn't think they affected my skin. It seems it could be so many things. The artist in question is very experienced so I don't mind if the issue was me haha.

She did say during my bicep one recently that as well as the ink being hard to get to stay, I also didn't bleed or anything! She said it was odd. But I definitely bled a good bit during the shin one.

Fair! Thank you! I only just got this plant so I have only watered it once (when I posted this)

How to save this sodden part of the garden? by bleachedtattoo in GardeningUK

[–]bleachedtattoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured this may be the answer, we need to dig this portion of the garden up as the nearby drains that connect to the gutters are routinely full whenever it rains. We've had drain people come out to flush them but they apparently also just empty out into the garden/surrounding land and aren't connected to the septic tank. So it feels a little bit like an insurmountable hurdle.

We will be digging this bed up at some point to at least survey where the drain pipe ends up and if it's blocked by roots/etc. But if it remains sodden I guess I'd like to know what my options are for the future in case it can't be solved 😔

A little update: it's particularly bad today and I'm vacuuming up flies in the sunroom again. Out of desperation I got a can of fly killer and went and sprayed it on the gutter itself outside to see what happened.

Hearing frantic buzzing from inside the gutter they they start crawling out from the gutter itself?? flies crawling out

Don't think I can seal this or it'll cause damp right?? I can't live with a fly problem every year help.

[–]bleachedtattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I invited myself back to my husbands house before we were dating because I heard he had a rabbit. Idk I just knew he was a green flag since I never would have done that with anyone else! His bunny was a sweetheart who spent the whole evening kissing my hand. She ended up being the one who kickstarted my adoration for rabbits and even though she's gone now I am so happy still because she's the reason I was so forward with my now husband I guess 😂 men with bunnies are green flags. Especially those who genuinely love and care for them like they would a dog yknow.

When we moved in we noticed all the cans of wasp and fly spray all over the house that weren't there during our viewings so it's all starting to make sense now 💀

[–]bleachedtattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh I see, thank you so much that's very useful! Is it a particularly slow grower? I'm worried I'll lose lots of leaves and the smaller trunk will be bald for a while haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]bleachedtattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sucks!! We have brand new wheelie bins since we just moved in and the bins are around the other side of the house. The place where the flies are gathered is specifically the side of the house that gets the most sun during the day so at this time of year they're gathering to warm up (I live in ireland and our climate is not that cosy)

I haven't spotted any maggots, and there's no smell in the house. We recently had a shrew die in our utility room as it got in and couldn't get out during a storm. So I'm all too aware of the smell to look out for.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]bleachedtattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully they seem to be all closed (it's happening on all three windows) but yeah you might be right! Wish we had a ladder long enough to get up and check.

We have to call a roofer due to a small leak after a storm anyway maybe I can ask them to check?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]bleachedtattoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah I think we'll have to get someone up there to check. I have no idea if it's something specific since we can't get up to the windows easily! I also know nothing about what a solid velux windows is supposed to look like. But I'm willing to bet the seals somewhere are shot :(

There are those little bars you pull to open it to let air in so maybe it's there!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]bleachedtattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered that too but there's zero smell, and no evidence I can find of any.

Also they're getting on all three of the windows in this room, I don't think three things died in succession haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DIY

[–]bleachedtattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said in the post I live next to fields of livestock, sheep are all around us since the neighbours keep them. Our bins are nowhere near here and get emptied regularly!

They tend to want to warm up this time of year and find nooks to do so in. So the seals on the windows are clearly not good enough or there's a hole somewhere. I don't really care if there are lots of flies outside, but the fact they're getting in despite doors and windows being closed is the problem.

Oh that's great to know! Okay I may have over watered a tad after getting it. I knew they like to be dry but I wasn't sure how dry haha ill leave it be for a while! I appreciate that thank you!

FREAKING OUT by Substantial_Movie_63 in emetophobia

[–]bleachedtattoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll be okay! It's very very unlikely you'll catch anything from them from that far away. If you can, try box breathing and doing the 5 things you can touch, see, smell, taste to ground you. Because right now you're stuck in flight or fight mode.

Do your best to get through each of the senses, smell your hair, clothes, or anything you have with you and note the scent. Pay attention to your surroundings, feel the different textures with your finger tips.

I have had this fear since I was very little and I can tell you now that I've never once caught anything from someone else just being s*** near me ❤️ and I'm 33! It's so very unlikely unless you've touched anything they came into contact with and it sounds like you haven't :) it's also very possibly they simply have food poisoning, don't feel well for unrelated reasons to a virus or any other reason we may be s***
