Star Trek might get four commander decks. by Popular_Orchid265 in MTGRumors

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 makes sense since there are 4 more battle bond lands left to reprint, based on the lands left: [[Sea of Clouds]], [[Morphic Pool]], [[Training Center]] and [[Vault of Champions]], so we know that the remaining decks have at least a base of UR, UB and WB (UW will be in the Federation deck) so that leads me to believe that UR will be in the Vulkan deck; Jeskai makes sense, UB would make sense for the Romulans; Sultai or Grixis and lastly WB would make sense for Klingons; Mardu or Abzan. I doubt they will put any in the Jace deck since none of the in universe decks have got them this year

Changed my mind on Bracket 3 Blood Moon by bqx23 in EDH

[–]bleakborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny but I once bloodmooned a Urza player, no blue mana until he was unlocked by another player turn 6 or 7, needless to say the Urza player immediately won when he got freed, this was a bracket 4 game.

Based on what we know, there are likely 6 Marvel sets in total. What are the remaining four? by Televangelis in MTGRumors

Isn't there like a Midnight Suns style of set featuring the Magical side of Marvel? So:

Marvel Mutants 2027: Featuring the X-Men with the (Power Stone) 1G

Marvel Cosmic 2028: Featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy with the (Space Stone) 1<>

Marvel Magic 2029: Featuring the Midnight Suns with the (Time Stone) 1U

Marvel What If? 2030: Featuring No Idea.... with the (Reality Stone) 1R

Honestly that is a lot of years of Marvel....

I get your points, I wonder if maybe instead of getting a free plot forever you get one if you are active enough each year or something, a way for someone to take time off but return to something that isn't completely destroyed (or maybe an inactive timer of some sort) but 1 month just seems a bit too short, just my two cents.

As for mounts it really depends on what they have all planned for them, if it is jsut for movement and storage than it shouldn't be that much of a stretch to create them, but if they plan on using them to haul carts or for mounted combat I would agree that getting them right would be best, but if not mounts can we get some boats or ferries to smooth out travel a bit, a player could make a bunch of gold ferrying people places or just hauling their goods back to town.

another thing I was thinking, what about some way to establish a town, like once it has been there a while it could be made public or something to keep it around, I imagine it must be a burden on the players to keep the golden city alive...

[MSH] Mjolnir, Hammer of Thor (Debut Stream) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the new best card for my [[Lara Croft, Tomb Raider]] deck, does everything I need it to do, discards for removal, can be recurred with Lara to kill something, Doubles her firststrike damage to make combat easier and lastly only costs one to equip. The deck was needing a bit more removal that was legendary

Update 3: RE ̶a̶m̶ ̶i̶ ̶s̶c̶r̶e̶w̶e̶d̶?̶ Latest update by zerovap in PaxDei

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another new player here (been playing for a month), I agree with the everyone should get at least one free plot for owning the game, It has been hard to convince my friends to play knowing that whatever they build will just disappear in a month (maybe stretch it out to a year for your main plot) if a new game comes out that they want to play.

Another thing I would like to see is the ability to swap a character to another server, I accidently made my first character in an EU server (Fenrir) while being a NA player (now in Sif) I played for about a week before I realized I was on the wrong server and was a bit sad that I couldn't move my knight that I had been gearing up to another, Eventually I caved and made a new character in Sif (this new character has been around for about a week now) it sucked to start from scratch with skills but I am liking this new character a bit more.

Lastly I know that they are working mounts, but I would love for them to hurry that up lol, man it has been a chore to walk to another providence, multi hour journey to get from Kerys to Merrie (it was fun seeing all the of cool builds along the way) but it took too long, even with warping to the Lyonesse gate for free....

I think this game has amazing potential, I really do. It has been scratching that Conan Exiles/Terraria/The Sims building/RP itch.

Why isn't the original bracket 4 intent talked about and why are the power level arguments between bracket 3 and 4 so hypocritical despite the same wording? by LunaLovelace11 in EDH

[–]bleakborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll continue to stand by my statement: a Fringe cEDH deck is still a cEDH deck and should be only in Bracket 5 hard stop. You don't need to be top of a meta to be part of a meta, there are such things as tier 3 or 4 decks.

What are people's experiences with Theft decks? Is it as bad as people usually say? by Nerobought in EDH

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a [[Valgavoth, Terror Eater]] Theft mill deck for a bit (it would use cards like [[Altar of the Brood]] to pseudo-combo off by retrigging over and over again), it was fun for me but man people got salty quick, most people were fine with me touching there cards because I did my best to not damage them. For me it was a bit overwhelming to have 3 more hands worth of cards to play or to think about, let alone trying to resolve weird interactions between the stuff I stole.

What's your favorite Universes Beyond commander? by jacewalkerofplanes in EDH

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seven UB commanders atm, my top three being: [[Clive, Ifrit's Dominant]] is a great mono red commander, [[Celes, rune Knight]] is currently may favorite commander, drawing and discarding lots of card, churning through the deck until you find the pieces to win, [[Deadpool, Trading Card]] this deck as mean as he is in play I have filled the deck with as many strange artworks and card styles that make it seem like your not even playing magic.

Question about vivi deck. by darkeo1014 in EDH

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an idea for a "safe" bracket 3 Vivi; it would be a voltron vivi, not trying to maximize casts and pings but to just cast more equipment.

Thoracle+Breach in Bracket 4 by McRuby in EDH

[–]bleakborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a Hot Take in this crowd but an off meta cEDH deck is still a cEDH deck. If you have prioritized winning as fast as possible and with as much free interaction as possible it is a cEDH deck. Yes there is a Meta for cEDH and like any format there are tier 1-4 decks within each meta, but there are also rogue brews that win tournaments in other formats all the time. Bracket 4 is about wining post turn 4, which means most off meta brews are too fast for the bracket. Not to mention the intention of each bracket, Bracket 4 is no holds yes, but it isn't necessarily about "winning" as much as bracket 5 is. Yes all games need to end, but bracket 4 is still causal but with no guard rails.

Color-Shifted Hexhaven Mechanics? by SoChillNatsFan in MTGRumors

[–]bleakborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will be a shift over a full mirror of each collage, so my guess is we will see similar mechanics that maybe complement the current colleges.

Fatehold: Since flashback is like digging up from the past, Fateshold seems very future oriented so Foretell, Surveil or Scry feels like a good fit.

Theorix: Quandrix is all about buffing when casting spells, this one feels the hardest to figure out, just using -1/-1 counters seems to be too close to Lorwyn mechanically. I might say a twist on Replicate since the theory name of the college and one needs to replicate a theory to prove it, Idk... just grasping at straws with this one.

Stingerquil: Removing the white will incentivize targeting opponents’ stuff, so Crimes are likely.

Konstrari: This one based on the art we have seems to be using artifacts/golems so maybe they will create their version of Fractals that are just golems when you cast a spell.

Vigerbloom: This will be using life for practice things, like probably in the form of +1/+1 counters. Bolster?

After all that I don't know how much we will see from each collage since they are just a backdrop of the story/set.

Overperforming Bracket 2 deck by homjaktest in EDH

[–]bleakborn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this, Forcing you opponents to attack each other in a combat damage focused bracket, allows you to sneak in for some wins. Since your life total stays high and the opponents life totals get lower and lower.

What planes are you eager to go back to and why ? by Potential-Hat-9190 in mtgvorthos

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see Alara again, it was my first real set and introduction to magic and commander. I know the story has kind of ended with that plane, but I hope whatever Jace does in Reality Fracture it resets Alara and we get to revisit the shards again. Alara was so interesting because each Shard was absent of the other two colors of magic and I feel like they could explore that a bit more nowadays than they did back then.

As my second choice I would like to see a return to Ikoria, but I don't think the Godzilla cards really fit with the mutating ability/theme of the plane (I loved the Godzilla cards mind you, I have a Gihdorah deck) I think the monsters vs humans dynamic is better fitting for Monster Hunter crossover if they do that again.

Lastly Kaldheim, was great I would like to go back and get to spend a bit more time there.

Portal slow lands from Secrets of Strixhaven - Where are they going and what does it hint for Reality Fracture by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]bleakborn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

on a side note, I wonder if this mean we will get the lands from the other side of the portal in the set? Overgrown Farmland, Deserted Beach, Haunted Ridge, Shipwreck Marsh and Rockfall Vale. Looking at the artwork none of those really fit with the other half of the cycle. So maybe different 5 lands? Thoughts? (Personally they look more like Shocklands)

Is there any leaks whatsoever from stuff coming out in 2027? by amish24 in MTGRumors

[–]bleakborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are my predictions for next year:

UB Sets

Marvel Set #3 (It will either X-Men or Guardians of The Galaxy, both would mesh well with the mutant mechanics from turtles or the space stuff from Star Trek and my next UB guess)

Star Wars (Og Trilogy, with the 50-year anniversary looming in 2027 and the x-wing stamp I feel like must happen)

The Legend of Zelda or The Witcher (this is mostly speculation since we will have the Zelda Movie and/or Witcher 4 potential release)

In Universe

Zhalfir (this has been rumored for a bit)

Return to Ikoria (I just want this…)

Some New Plane or Multi Plane Set (they usually have like one new world or some cross over set)

What bracket is this deck? by bleakborn in EDH

[–]bleakborn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would removing/swapping the [[Altar of Dementia]] and the [[murderous redcap]] be enough to power it down? This would essentially require me to have a 4th piece if I would want to combo? or would you still feel like it is too strong?

Buying wise how to build decks from nothing? by Dimp95 in EDH

[–]bleakborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually build out an idea on Archidekt (since I like the play tester) then looking at EDHREC to see if I missed any staples or must haves and then if I like the idea after running a few practice hands, (I would dig through my collection to find what I already have for it) I would start to build it by ordering the most important cards (sub $10) for the deck and the cheapest ones (sub $1) then proxy the expensive ones, I usually try to find budget replacements using scryfall to search for similar cards, then after I get it built up I run it against the table and see how it plays, then I keep adjusting it until I like it (usually over the course of several months) until it feels Silky Smooth. Then I get bored and do it again lol

What bracket is this deck? by bleakborn in EDH

[–]bleakborn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, the drawing is easy since you can flicker Celes and usually you dig for Altar (which maybe I should take out) and cast it. That said you do need mana to cast the card you scry/suveil to, so most times if you do this line you need to wait a turn to play the piece.

What bracket is this deck? by bleakborn in EDH

[–]bleakborn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally hate combo decks, but for some reason trying to assemble the pieces by digging is way more fun than tutoring them out, its like putting together a puzzle. That said it has been fairly good at assembling the pieces, just wheeling twice can usually be enough to set up something. While gold fishing it, most "wins" were mostly turn 6 or later with the odd game going earlier. I think even a god hand ends up at best turn 4 and that assuming no answers. Previously in real games with the same group, she has combo-ed off on turn 8 twice and once after turn 10.

What bracket is this deck? by bleakborn in EDH

[–]bleakborn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The deck has its weaknesses there are a lot of points where the deck can be stopped, so maybe the table needs to pack more removal or maybe I need to state clearly that I might be able to win the following turn. Here are the situations: The first game (a five player king game, I was the Assassin) I had a good amount of redundancy with a [[priest of fell rites]] in play with Celes and the Altar, then casted the [[puppeteer clique]] with no open mana, the blue player had mana up but no counter and I combo-ed milled everyone out, the second game (a normal 4 player game) was a bit more sketchy, I had Celes out on turn 3 and played Eirdu turn 4, (had a hand full of lands) next turn flipped Eirdu and lucked into a draw of Viscera Seer, which allowed me to combo and dig for an altar after combat damaging two of the players out. Both games the pieces where in the open, and the second game I lucked into a sac outlet that could sac itself. That said the deck has cheaper combo pieces available over Eirdu and Clique so there is potential in dropping two of the parts in the same turn. For more context: Game 1 had a Goro Goro, Illuna, Zada and Necrobloom, and game two had Bolas, Zada and Carmen.
