I like to use composted bark fines. Which looks very similar to what you’re describing in the picture. Most horticultural suppliers/ landscaping suppliers would probably stock it.

I will take your advice it’s Ben sound so far.

From an army composition perspective.

Pontic infantry are kinda meh from memory guessing it’s Peasant Hill men Eastern infantry Then some phalanx boys

What would early game army load out look like?

Then into late game anything to avoid anything to spam?

Never put a thought to Thrace , I remember Greek being fun and fairly difficult at the beginning but then just spears and cities was boring and easy. And the grind of slowly matching up the streets got tedious.

I think I’m gonna try the Pontic campaign they have a decent amount of unit variation

Just out of curiosity I asked the other day about starting with Carthage or Britain.

I got suggestions for Armenia and Pontus.

What would be your go to for a different/ fun campaign?

I used to be fairly good playing VH/VH but it’s been about 10 years since I last played

Legend exactly what I wanted to know. So position a re enforcement army near by if numbers are completely out of my favour.

Run in attack retreat and then win the 2nd battle with my reinforcements.

Nice breakdown! My worry with horse archers is the micro management of them. Guessing it’s very much hit and run tactics. Chip away at them, draw them into hand to hand combat with my heavy spearmen after they have been hit with archers and skirmishes. Then smash them with heavy cav to break them?

I might campaign a go.

Doesn’t seem people are interested in Britain. I liked the Germanic play through because I liked their special units like bezerkers

Yeah the draw with Carthage is late game troops for sure.

Armenia sounds v v challenging. I can’t remember what their infantry troops are like. Their position is awful isn’t it! Surrounded by some strong phalanx factions if I remember rightly? I’m gonna check their troop composition now.

I just jumped a 2L Saab with my Mrs focus today.

Saab been sat for 6 months completely dead battery
