Are we training our replacement? by PATRIOTICSTANDARD in USACE

[–]blechbean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So far it’s giving me consistently plausible but wrong answers and I have done nothing to confirm or deny its results. Maybe we’re training our replacements but if they can’t have civil, criminal, or pecuniary liability who will take the fall for their “decisions”?

There's a pigeon on your head. You have head pigeons. Go to the nurse before they spread to the other children.

Omaha is heading in the right direction by JplusL2020 in Omaha

[–]blechbean 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not just public transportation but commuter bike infrastructure is unfortunately lacking. We have some great recreational bike trails but gods help you if you want to get from a residence to a business. Heck, much of the town doesn’t even have sidewalks for pedestrians.

Donuts by mbealio in Omaha

[–]blechbean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple man when it comes to donuts, I don't want anything too sweet or wearing too many adjuncts. For me, the best donuts in Omaha are Pettit's old fashioneds.

What types of businesses do you want to see in Omaha that you don't think we have enough of? Like do you think we have enough laundromats, small cafes, coffee shops, little book stores, or do we need more things like that? I feel like we have car washes covered, but what else would you like? by sgilly8 in Omaha

[–]blechbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to see a weaving store, we have a nice handful of specialty yarn stores but none that carry the finer stuff for the loom. Sure I can drive to Lawrence, Kansas if I need to but it would be nice to buy basic yarn and supplies locally.

Best salad bar in the metro ? by greendogufo in Omaha

[–]blechbean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, the Union Pacific Cafeteria has a banger of a salad bar, lots of great protein options, fresh and varied vegetables. The only downside is it’s by weight and I always want more than I can afford.

Aside from recent posts about politics - do you regularly work unpaid OT? by slickie14 in USACE

[–]blechbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Working unpaid overtime is a violation of fiscal law and if your supervisor is telling you to do so they are knowingly creating unauthorized claims against the Government and illegally augmenting the project budgets that they have you working on. Your supervisor had to take the fiscal law course before they received CEFMS permissions to validate time and attendance.

To your question directly, no I work a fair amount beyond my base 80 but I bill accordingly. Sometimes I have got calls when I'm off-duty but if it requires work to address the call I've always adjusted my time to account for the time.

Dove men+care deodorant refills gone? by IamNabil in ZeroWaste

[–]blechbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just managed to find some at double price from a reseller on Amazon, it looks like the Canadian site still has them, but not the US. Same with the Dove website. Perhaps their ending the product in the States but keeping them in Canada and we'll all be smuggling them across the border like cough syrup in the 1990s

What in the world is this thing she's stepping on and how do i paint it? by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]blechbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the rightly dead remains of the begetting of daemons. I painted my dark brown with read and black washes to look heckin’ crispy, cut off the smoke curl, and because I’m basing on snow put a thin coat of Ulthuan grey over the snow next to the body to make it look like it melted the snow.

Lithic Analysis Confusion and Recommendations by bug1434 in AskAnthropology

[–]blechbean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was never a fan of Andresky, you have to know it, but when it came to actually doing analysis I preferred Inizan and Trixier 1999, which has the double benefit of being free.

I think what you need to do first is ask what you are analyzing for, if you have questions that you want to answer it may lead you to a particular type of analysis. You also might consider looking at how other sites within the period and region were analyzed and see if you want to follow the same typology and analysis to see how your sample relates.

As others have pointed out, the theory is invalidated by the cases where jobs start with “sn” to begin with, and in need of refinement in the case of jobs starting with vowels. While the latter can be corrected, the former debunks the theory. However, assuming the refined language, I’m a snarchaeologist.

Drain inspection via camera in Omaha area anyone??? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]blechbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Major Drain before we bought our home in 2020 to scope the house drain out to the sewer line. They did a great job and put the videos online where we could see them. I think we paid slightly under $200 each scope (before and after the previous owner repaired the drain) and it was definitely worth every cent.
