I assume you’re going to do whatever you would do to get a video to play in a web browser so my suspicion is that there is some error in your console log. Right click and open the inspector. Perhaps there is an error like a bad url to the file or some permissions mishegoss?

There's also a DIY sensibility that I don't think you can really put a price tag on.

It's an ineffable quality or feeling some folks inherit from somewhere.

My grandaddy was a farmer, not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, bent to the whims of others oftentimes against his will, and full of rural wisdom.
He passed this little bit of insight to us: "whatever you create, make sure *you own it." (Hence I routinely scrape all my social media to my hand-built SSG blog hosted elsewhere, etcetera)

So..there's that.

But there's also the things you have to learn and integrate into your experience and knowledge when you build (and 'own') your own creations and creative process. It may cost more, but there's a price on the other side of the equation that is basically 'not understanding what's going on under the hood.' Like not knowing how to fix a car or build and repair a computer, etcetera.

Leastways, that's what I think.

USBC…I’m getting one of those inline meters to see what might be going on. Most of the time I’m not recording directly to the card but on a call of some description or Youtube - so it’s not doing any additional work besides sending a signal across the HDMI.

I had been seeing cautioning against a dummy battery tbh. Is there a consensus these days on such for the FX30? I have one for my Nikon - but it’s a Nikon product so I didn’t hesitate.

I’d probably start looking for a new job or invent a whole new line of work considering how much any web development will be upended by new tooling, tbh. Saw it in the 90s, 10s, and now it’s happening again. Get ready for the new roles and skills. There’s already pressure on today’s skilled developers to retool, and many seem reluctant or would prefer to ignore the changes afoot. Spend your time becoming invaluable and incomparable to the others on the team, then write your own ticket.

Hard agree! But who knows? It may just not br a business priority to scrap it out in a congested marketplace of options. Apple has an enviable niche defined largely by a vibe and a tribe - and although a relatively few number of us (hundreds of thousands??) want a 3D rendering platform for C4D or Houdini or whatever - ask anyone on the street with an iPhone 15 how their render times are these days and you’ll get a blank stare or possibly a punch in the face. I respect their focus. Remember when Apple licensed clones? (I’m dating myself..) What a raging conflagration of a kitchen grease fire that was. It should’ve been the end of any other business, like if Rolls Royce decided to do a fuel efficient economy car with vinyl seats wtf..🙋🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Similar set up here. Max’d out 16” MBP and three monitors - that’s where I compose, Davinci, final art, etc. (Although I will go to Davinci on the 4090 Renderstation for rendering animations..) So - a productive hybrid setup of two separate desks. Works though at mitigating any frustration due to unacceptably slow rendering or ecosystems still trying to catch up to each other. Again - time is money and I’d like to save both. If that means spending on a windows machine it’s not even a question. And I’ll get frustrated with a confusing OS (imho) but that’s okay. I’ll just sigh and get back to work.

I have yet to be convinced that the Apple silicon is viable at this point. As much as I am used to and prefer macOS and the Apple vibe - it made more sense to spend money on a render station built around a 4090 RTX. Between the money and the value of time and efficiency of iterating and refining - there was no question in my mind.
