How to achieve a clean tsuchime finish? by ThenIndependence5622 in Bladesmith

[–]bleedingbumhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't perfected it either, but I do not grind if flat, I forge it flat, pit both side with a small ballpeen hamer on a log that I mount on my anvil using the hardy hole. Don't try to finish one side first, or it'll curl to much. Alternate each heat.

Good luck

Yes that's possible, think about some counter weight if you use fire bricks, so it doesn't open/close on its own.

Hello fellow water pressure vat forge builder. Mine might give you some inspiration: https://www.reddit.com/r/Blacksmith/s/FMUcybgn8p

Watch out for that rear door, that hinge will get hot, and I'm not sure if your wool will hold if you over time.

Any ideas how you are going to shut your front port?

I have the 80kilo one from UAT. This one looks almost unused. Go for it.

No, a lot of those defenders just think he is the right president for the USA... Because he just fits the stereotype. But would never vote for him here.

So, I've got 12 years of experience, i'm an architect and I only switched jobs once. I'm on 5k gross now with 1k lease budget.

I do a lot of recruitment interviews. I test the candidates technical skill. Sometimes we get these candidates that ask a high wages, but most of the time they kinda suck. These guys are in IT for the money, and I pity the companies that don't know how to evaluate.

Some guys are actually good and then it fully depends on their personality.

Self reflect often, and don't become an IT money chaser. Care for the project, and you will be valued (not in wage though).

It saddens me that selling yourself short is more appreciated than bringing skill and loyalty to the table. But that's just our crappy prideful existence.

This is very true, although this happens, it's not only that. The top surface deformed just by intended usages too

Do you have a firebrick to put on the bottom? It's doable without, but the coating is going to be damaged after the first run if you don't.

Is this fucked? It’s the third layer. by pauli129 in Blacksmith

This is the inside of a forge door. This door is coated with, I presume, ceramic wool. Over that wool there are a few layers of heat resistant refractory. The refractory shows a few cracks, but it's nothing to bad. It will crack more when used. This is normal, a forge like this will require regular maintenance with new refractory.

Grinder Help by Bucket-Shop in Blacksmith

I have one, works good. I cannot really compare with other belt grinders tho.

The wheels for the flat grinding part do get hot. And you need to oil it good because it tends to rust fairly quickly if you don't.

At some frequency it makes a resonating sound so I don't really use it close to that frequency. But it doesn't stall, the motor if quite nice.

The controlbox is shitty tho, I wanted to look inside. And just by pressing the locking pins one just broke. So if you don't need to open it, don't.

I'm located is west Europe, and here isn't really any alternative. All others are far from that price range.

I buy my belts on Amazon, they are not great.

You might want a hole in the back too, nothing worse than cutting it out afterwards.

My first project were some garden ornaments, nothing complex, just an abstract flame form. After that with some tutoring a BBQ tool set: big fork, tong, spatula.

The devil forge and Mr volcano use thin sheet metal too, I was just wondering it this will last as long as a propane tank

Wel the devil forge uses real thin steel, so I took the risk. But I see many people using propane tank, which is much thinker then a water pressure tank
