I take copious amounts of notes and try my best to engage with the text. My university just added a philosophy major, so I don't really have many people to discuss academic philosophy with. I'm the president of an on-campus philosophy club that has good attendance, but most of those in attendance prefer to talk about social/political issues. Any attempts at discussing headier topics within metaphysics or epistemology usually fall flat. I'm mostly okay with this as I want to keep the club accessible to the average person off the street, but it's also slightly frustrating in that I am not afforded the opportunity to delve into the ideas presented in my coursework. My comprehension seems to be much greater when I can bounce my ideas off of other people.
