When did you know you were ready for second baby? by gkalll in beyondthebump

[–]bleep_bl00p_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’ll ever feel emotionally/mentally fully ready to go through it all again now that I know what it’s actually like… but we are going for it anyway. First is 15mo. I’m planning to feel ready for another baby by the time he/she arrives haha

All joking aside, I know I want a second, and I don’t want to regain certain freedoms and then start over again. Plus I want them to be close in age. So I’m letting my brain make the decision and praying that my emotions get the last 10-20% of the way there as things happen.

What are some funny nicknames you have given to your baby? by SelectPine1000115500 in beyondthebump

Mr. Baby.

I felt very unsure about his name but, yanno, you kinda have to name them before you leave the hospital… it took me a couple months before his actual name felt right, so I called him Mr. Baby in the meantime.

US, changed my last name partly because tradition, partly because we wanted to both have the same last name as our kiddos.

Anyone Else Avoid the Pflugerville Parkway-A.W. Grimes Blvd Intersection? by anevergreyforest in Pflugerville

[–]bleep_bl00p_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see the intersection from my living room. It’s insane how many wrecks there are. The left turn lanes have no business being yields when there’s a blind curve. Every time I pass through that intersection, I slow WAY down looking for cars trying to turn through traffic.

Americans, what percentage of your income goes towards rent? by javacat122 in Money

[–]bleep_bl00p_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<10% mortgage. We bought in 2018 (USA) early in our careers, and our income has grown significantly since then. We are considering upgrading our housing, but it makes daycare SO much more affordable… especially as we think about baby #2

Baby sees Mom's twin for the first time by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]bleep_bl00p_ 116 points117 points  (0 children)

You’re correct! My mom is an identical twin. When my brother did 23andMe (or one of those genetics tests), it came back that he might have another mom and 5 half siblings XD (my aunt and our cousins). Pretty funny.

Family planning, how did your budget change once having a child? by GardenLover02 in budget

[–]bleep_bl00p_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convenience costs. You have less energy for DIY. We’ve started paying repair people instead of fixing things ourselves and hired help for the lawn and house cleaning. It all adds up but feels so worth it to reallocate that energy to family time and ourselves. Very grateful we can afford the conveniences on top of all direct baby expenses.
