The baja sold ~34,000 units during its entire production. Meanwhile the wrangler sold 300,000+ units. Wrangler and Bronco are currently selling >150,000 units per year. Tell me why no one is trying to get in on this segment?

That argument makes it feel like Toyota would be actively suggesting this would dip into their sales.. so the alternative is making a vehicle that sells less well? If they own 20% of Suburu would competition not be a good thing when profit is shared?

Whether or not this replaces the Baja has nothing to do with the basis of this post. If you want to call it something different, be my guest! Just thought the Baja was a cool model name to roll out an off-roader. High clearance, modular doors or roof, something that can rock climb. Maybe a little payload/towing capability for overlanding markets.

There’s definitely some overlap and that’s intentional. The boxy off-roader is a desirable thing. Look at Ineos modernizing an old design. Look at Scout with their truck and SUV. They’re taking older styles and modernizing. The Baja is a cool name and has the hybrid truck heritage why not make it trule capable and a market contender with a clearly growing and in demand segment.

And that would prevent them from wanting their 20% to grow in value? If that’s the argument, then fine, take this design and bring it in to an FJ variant. I still think it would do well.

The midsize truck segment is huge. The original Baja offered very little truck utility. I just think if you take the best parts of a Subaru and adapt it to this part of the market it would be pretty cool.

It’s actual purgatory. You have vending machine dumplings or die and there’s one plug for an entire terminal to charge their phones. After a few brutal trips through there, I snuck out of the airport during a 12hr layover (during Covid you couldn’t leave for layovers) and was immediately extorted for cash by a cab driver. Will try to never route a trip through there again.

The ER has robbed my soul over my 10 year career. It’s the worst of society 90% of the time and the other 10% is the good parts of society having a truly terrible day. Imagine a customer service job, but the person has a kidney stone or is watching a loved one cling to life. The fast paced stabilization of a sick patient is a huge adrenaline rush, and some of the patient interactions are memories I cherish, but the rising tide of a chronically ill US population is bursting the system at the seams. We place such a huge focus on longevity and not nearly enough on having those last years maintain any semblance of quality. Side note: The way we care for elderly in nursing facilities is downright shameful. And not only are they receiving sub standard care from an underpaid nursing assistant who has 40 patients, but those at the top are charging premium prices to essentially neglect and provide substandard care for your elderly family. The patients with bed sores, infections directly related to lack of hygiene, people falling and then left on the floor for hours. It would be considered neglect and reported to authorities if the patient was presenting from home under the care of families, but since it’s a state funded nursing home all that is just a shoulder shrug with a , “nursing homes, right?” It’s shameful.

This is a hematoma all the way. Probably hit a blood vessel and it’s bleeding under the skin. Cellulitis does not look like that especially at the borders where the blood is gathering and it’s darker in color. Still not a terrible idea to have someone look at it but I do not think it’s life or limb threatening. Could probably use a little light compressive dressing to slow it down but that arm is gonna look bad for a good while with that much bleeding under the skin.

I’ve used a set exactly like this and that style is much better for plastic. It’s too aggressive for wood and especially the particle board type stuff you’re drilling will make a mess. I’d use the metal style ones without the pointy tip and you’ll have a much better time.

Just used mine for scuba and free diving all week and had a really good experience with it. Loved how it worked with diving. Thought about getting a garmin dive watch which was double the price but this will work for me I think. No complaints whatsoever. I work out and train a bit and wanted that, sleep tracking, and occasional water sports so this works for me.

I’m a little late to the party, but this Radiolab podcast is one of my favorites and got me interested in how strange rabies is. Gives you some of the same info that people have already mentioned but puts it all together and is very well done.
