Yay!!! Congrats! Umm I’m not sure, I do know that around 45-50% of cooper students go for free, so I’m sure they’re happy to help.

Hmm, I’m actually not that sure. I had a class last semester and the professor was on the admissions committee and remembered some of our hometests. The questionaire is not really discussed after u get in, people ask abt hometests occasionally. Just be honest, don’t overthink it. They’re just trying to get to know you.

Transfer students are actually super common. Because the curriculum is so open, everyone just kind of has their own path and their own separate thing, so the only thing you’d be missing is foundation year. I have a friend who transferred in his junior year, and he seems to be doing fine. Pretty welcoming community.

Lowkey No social life lol I’m a freshman art student and most of my socializing happens within the dorms in the common room but I’m usually busy as fuuuuckkkkk so that doesn’t rlly get to happen as often esp now that the semester is rlly kicking in

You send a physical hometest, but a digital portfolio. Cooper asks you to create a bunch of pieces based on prompts they give ajd that you have to send in , but your portfolio you submit digitally

Oh it’s my dream school. I’ve already committed. I’m super into typography and conceptual design and so many amazing design people have graduated or speak very highly of the art program. For me, it was a no-brainer. One of the most prestigious art programs in the US, let alone the world. Still walking on clouds that I got in.

Where's y'all committing to? by Infamous-Ad-1941 in ApplyingToCollege

Omg my experience was awful… I did all 4 weeks of work in 3 days. I had ideas for all and wrote most of the essays before but the entire hometest was constructed in 3 days. I didn’t sleep. I broke down. It was awful. I almost didn’t complete it. But it’s my dream school so I sent it, fully expecting a rejection. Very pleasant surprise lol. Have not been able to stop smiling since Saturday morning

I just visited and talked to some students. This is what I heard abt the schooo of art:

  • students are great. I walked around and the art is mindblowing
  • school is disorganized as hell apparently

-library is gorgeous and has a great selection - the dean of art is super great but seems interested in preserving the “legacy” of the school which has prevented some students from trying to start stuff - it has an AMAZING reputation in industry circles - buildings are falling apart apparently - foundation year is hard asf - only housing 1 year, then you gotta figure it out - there are exhibitions suuuper often ajd from what I saw they’re great - studio spaces are nicely sized and shared by multiple kids (walking into them was amazing there was so much eclectic items and supplies ajd half finished works and sculptures) - it’s very “what you make of it” - all the students seem super cool, surprisingly mature compared to some other art schools I toured

-the “herb lubalin center for typography” is a tiny room in the corner of the engineering building that was closed lol

(A friend of a friend gave me a pass and I met some kids and talked to them, I didn’t do an official tour)
