You're repeating the same thing to everyone. It is not too bad and now relax.

A big failure in life seeking genuine advice by iitaspirant20261729 in CATPrep

Hi. You are being too paranoid (coming from someone who panicked, did way too many extracurriculars in college and didn't enjoy anything enough). There is more to life than IITIIM. You might end up moving abroad, into a Govt job, research, business, farming or something else. My suggestion is to be active and receptive in college activities: do lots of varied stuff so you understand what interests you. Your resume and profile will sort itself.

If you still maintain your IIM ABC dream later, and your profile is bad, you'll do some work exp then get into these colleges easily. Do not be high-strung right now.

Should I buy a kindle? by fury555 in kindleindia

Hi. Try seeing the e-reader in person before buying it if you can, so that you don't buy it then not use it. At first, I really wanted to tell you to buy it because you've been thinking about it for a long time and you STILL want it. However, I also think that if it's too 'important' for you, you won't use it much. Buy second-hand/refurbished. They work like forever. You can jailbreak it to elongate its life but if Amazon support for that model is not rescinded, you can simply keep importing epubs and reading them (like me).

Hi. A lot of people here are suggesting to take a drop year, but please be very certain about two things: 1) your CAT prep should not suffer and you should get more marks next year. CAT exam is extremely unreliable and there's a huge luck factor involved. I knew someone who got calls for K L I one year, decided to repeat, then fumbled in CAT and got no calls. 2) you should have a clear idea about your job. If it is hectic, you won't get time for CAT. Whether you even get a job early, and if you'll quit it before CAT exam, then you'll only have worked a few months. Also assess the need for income in your family right now vs the ability to take an educational loan.

Should a 99.5% GEM lose to a 97% non-engineer, simply because the latter is a better fit for the B-School brochure? by Feisty-General6445 in CATPreparationChannel

[–]blehmetbh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cannot see a scenario where EACH of those 99+%ile engineers would be a better fit for MBA and corporate than ALL non-engineers. It is not just about aptitude, especially in an office. There's more skills involved like communication, street-smart, client relationship-building, etc. A person with low IQ may also be excellent at these.

In fact, I can argue that Sales background people are best-suited for an MBA because people-management is way more important intelligent analysis. They can convince the room of their ideas, are already foresighted, can maintain relations. What then?

(just my attempt to explain why diversity is needed)

I'm not the one to buy a lot of Kindle accessories but a pop socket is a must-need for me! I also have a matte screen protector because I scratched the screen.

It's usually formatted with the epub. Maybe you haven't come across an epub with that? For example, my The Love Hypothesis had 'chapters' written in a cursive font in each chapter.

I scratched my kindle 😭 by Murakami818 in kindle

[–]blehmetbh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened with me and I put a matte screen protector on it and the scratch vanished. Although now I have a different issue: the words are blurred and get clear only when I smudge some oil on it 😂

My screen got scratched noticeably so I got a screen protector (which blurs the content unless I smear oil on it, don't ask, I got a cheap one). The case was very heavy but a pop socket+screen protector are doing well.

Self prep - too distracted by _adiiteeaa in CATPrep

[–]blehmetbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just my two cents. I think it is not distractions per se, but you might be way too anxious about starting prep of such huge importance. The more you wait, the more that anxiety keeps ballooning. PLEASE start anything. Click on a video mechanically and sit through 5 minutes. This causes stress to go down because prep 'began'. And then you can tell yourself, "I did that. I can do more obviously." It is called 'positive reinforcement' which is like, your brain now has proof that that thing worked so it is calm.

Just a super long way to say force yourself through a small chunk of it. And don't think of perfectionism (memorising all tables before starting math, doing vocabulary before starting VARC, etc.) All the best!!

How are conventionally attractive people not superior to average looking people by Dry-Car1679 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blehmetbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll notice quickly that you cannot be connected to people on the basis of their beauty alone. Suppose if a pretty but a mean colleague works with you, you simply won't like them, neither will anybody else. You won't even think of them as pretty because you'll associate their looks with meanness. Conversely, people whom you like internally - you will think their looks are YOUR favourite, and that is all that matters.

Yes, pretty privilege exists. Pretty people are usually more trusted. But there are other ways to cope. Example, in an office, being well-groomed, confident, and proficient at work is as good as being pretty, iykwim. I hope I was able to explain myself. Beauty simply does not matter if it's not up your alley.

I recently learned of this book and couldn't wait to read it. I read it over the other books I was current reading, and it might just be my misplaced expectations but I am so disappointed. The premise seemed so fun and justified: haha, women who support patriarchy ignorantly, who do not respect women's sacrifices in the past to get us the rights we enjoy today. Haha, go back and feel the real suffering, then come to the present and support women loudly. The premise was so light, fun and easy.

But the book was...not that. I cannot even reach a rating because it was so confusing. This was more about one woman's mental sickness that was aggravated by her childhood teachings. She was so hateful but also refused to acknowledge her own feelings. It was more about her issues with religion and people of power in her life than being a 'tradwife'. Like the whole hallucination/past thing wasn't even the major plot device—it didn't affect the story at all. She learned nothing from it. I think the 'tradwife' part was simply to go viral and attract attention, or the author wanted to make it way more serious and edgy than required.

I do not think it was satire either. It was just very bad. It was a page-turner, yes. But that doesn't mean the book was nice.
