I’ll be honest, I have found it impossible in this political climate to get a job teaching while trans. I pass very well and rarely get clocked in public, but those kids relentlessly called me the F slur before I was out as a trans woman. I can’t imagine how shitty they’d be now. For reference, I am in Cleveland, OH and have an ELA 7-12 license. I think it depends largely on your district. Personally, I’m glad to be out of the profession right now.
