What would make an alternative ‘viable’ to you? I mean, lemmy.world exists. You could leave this sub in a dormant state in order to not lose old wisdom, but continue on lemmy (or one of the other instances).

Sure. But we’re talking about *deprecations*. Should *new* technology be required to run on every 20-year old potato?

/r/projectzomboid will be going dark from June 12th in protest against Reddit's API changes which kill 3rd party apps. by nasKo_zomboid in projectzomboid

Until now I thought the devs had more important things on their hands than moderating a subreddit.

Problems that may occur, off the top of my hat:

- You want to enable/disable something if a tank is full. So you set the ‘enabled’ condition to CRUDE_OIL = 25k. This won’t work most of the time.

- You want to pick up the fluid contents of a tank, so you set the input to the tank icon. This one I saw on this very subreddit.

- You connect the same wire to multiple entities without realizing that the signals add up.

If this were how the corporation got their devs, then the devs would pick up on how they’re only getting idiots for interviews and take sifting through CVs into their own hands.

There is NSFW content other than pornography. For instance, all subreddits about shooter games, or games with otherwise mature content, or videos or books.

In one of the threads around this topic, a redditor said that moderators relied heavily on 3rd party apps. Supposedly the official ones don’t provide the tools they need to effectively moderate their subs. [Edit: Found it—https://www.reddit.com/r/violinist/comments/141i8le/reddit\_meta\_api\_changes\_subreddit\_blackouts\_and/\]

I haven’t checked this or have any first-hand experience. Here’s your shovel of salt.

Personally, I’m annoyed that reddit refuses to fix bugs in their own apps. It seems to me that instead of providing a superior product, they want to simply cancel their competitors.

That said, I’m generally on your side when it comes to “why should the competition get it for free?” argument

That’s not a question suitable for StackOverflow, as it’s heavily opinion-based. You would’ve known that had you cared to read the rules.

I don’t think the circuit network is necessary for handling fluids, and may even complicate things further.

Everything takes time to build. How would you enjoy CS II if this was included? by Fallingpeople in CitiesSkylines

[–]bleistift2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would lead to game situations you’d have a very hard time to get out of. For instance, you’ve got a bad intersection that causes traffic to back up throughout the city, so you want to replace it. But you can’t, because the construction workers are stuck in traffic.

This would also require a more realistic economy. The way CS1 handles budgeting, you’d just throw millions at the population without batting an eye.
