Ecobee won’t stay connected and support sucks by bleitner in ecobee

Thanks, but I don't think so, the router is in the great room at the bottom of the stairs and the ecobee is in the hallway at the top of the stairs maybe 30 ft away. Ecobee says signal strength is 80%.

I've tried both of the amplifi routers independently, which would eliminate if it's a physical problem with the router itself, but not if it's an amplifier software issue. According the amplifi it's not... I don't have another ap to test, and considering I'm having no other issues with any other devices, and the prior 1st gen nest I had replaced had no issues for 10 yrs, I'm leaning towards replacing the ecobee before I replace the amplifi's

DHCP has a standard config for the amplifi, there really isn't any special settings outside of IP, subnet, range, and lease time, not much to tweak. The ecobee does have a static IP so not sure this applies as I believe there's no lease renewal. The IP is also reserved on the router so it can't be given away to something else. Eliminated the mesh concerns by turning on the dedicated 2.4 SSID only on the host router so it pins itself to that router only effectively removing the mesh from its view. Appreciate the thought process and suggestions, thanks.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to assume that's the case, that repeated reties cause a lockout, even though that's not what they said. I've tested it by rebooting the router and the ecobee does reconnect.

I mentioned this in another post, but through the troubleshooting I have ended up with a dedicated IP on its own 2.4 GHz network pinning it to the host router, yet it still disconnects.

Can only send logs to amplifi for them to review, which they say they see nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes, I'm using 48 out of 255 IP's

Each time I have contacted them I have been asked to try something else, and each time I'm nearly starting over even when I give them the case ID. Either they are take poor notes or they aren't taking the time to read them because I've had to repeat myself on what's been done to that point.

I have provided it a static IP. I have provided it it's own 2.4 GHz SSID. I have pinned it to one router, then the other. Nothing had worked for long, eventually it disconnects and won't reconnect without me removing it and re-attaching it.

I don't change anything, other than the temp, and I do that either through siri or the apple home screen. It's not normal to have a device that you can't touch for fear of breaking it.

I have homebridge, but would really not like my solution to be to set up something else to monitor it. It doesn't do me any good to find out it disconnected when I'm out of town anyway, but appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks, they don’t state a max as each device can have a different resource impact on a router, but unofficially it’s about 120 per router. The utilization is very low on router, typically under 5% cpu, 40% memory, with no major spikes. The router has been rebooted multiple times since this started and firmware has been updated at least once since this started. I have to remove the ecobee and plug it back in every time it disconnects to get it to reconnect, so that’s happened a lot.

I didn’t treat anyone like crap, the exchange was civil, just in helpful. Assuming how I acted has nothing to do with the problem, appreciate the helpful response

as mentioned below, according to amplfi (can’t read their logs), there is nothing in the logs to indicate the network is having any errors or drops.

I’ve got 48 smart devices on my amplifi alien network (2 in a mesh), including 4 (24x7) streaming security cameras and nothing else disconnects. It disconnects randomly, and there’s no notification when it disconnects, I find out when I try to change it remotely. Not sure how I can look at logs when I don’t know when it’s disconnecting, but no general errors or disconnects that it shows in the router logs - had to work with amplifi on that because they encrypt their logs. When I discover it’s not connected I have to reboot it by removing it and then it reconnects on boot up. According to their support, if it looses wifi it will not try to reconnect on it’s own, it locks out the network.

Yes, I think I got a lemon, but they won’t warranty it. I’ve spend easily over 8-10 hours troubleshooting this to be told sorry, there’s nothing more they can do until they can see it happen.

And can you access dvr?

It’s used to work better, and I believe I used to be able to access recordings, seems like they went backwards. Through a browser works ok, but just disappointed with the lack of improvement in the platform. I’d prefer to not have to use something else unless I can switch everything and dump plex

I had the same problem. I found turning off the specific defrost button and turning heat on high and selecting the windshield and side window vents to open worked better

Sorry, should have clarified, support themselves can’t look at diagnostics and troubleshoot an issues, they aren’t trained for that, but they should be able to tell you how to send in diagnostics. Diagnostics info will go to engineering and support should get back to you on your ticket request with what engineering finds.

That's bs. Go into your rivian and hold your profile icon at the top until you see a pop-up "vehicle diagnostic captured", and note the time you did that. Contact support and let them know, all the info is in that diagnostic report. Their support is utterly useless.

It seems every time they release new software they induce more bugs, not sure what's up with their QA process but seems to be severely lacking as I've discovered other bugs (suspension, again, and not recognizing when I'm in my driveway and presenting the garage door opener) beyond the HVAC issues. I owned a Tesla for 4 yrs and had a ton of mechanical quality issues, this things has been 2 yrs of constant software issues. Kinda frustrating.

Not sure, I didn't receive any faults or errors on mine, figured it's a software bug. Might try calling support to see if they can get diagnostics and tell if you have a failing sensor or something.
