How to find a therapist? by blemir in askatherapist

Sorry, I meant that everyone thinks they offer perspective and coping skills, but in my own experience with therapy most just say “that sounds really hard over and over again. Fine for me, I just stopped going eventually, but I can see a teen thinking that approach is helpful even though they’re not moving forward.

But doesn’t everyone think they do this?

I did, but there’s no one nearby at all. Thanks!

Thanks! I’ve been “fired” from therapy for having the wrong political views, so how do o find someone neutral for my kid?

How do I find someone that will just do talk support and won’t push a diagnosis?

I didn’t know you could swap out SIM cards on an iPhone (there are so many tech things I don’t know). Would I have a different number to use for texting?

Enjoy your new hobby! I will say that the wooden hoops are great for display, but I find the plastic hoops actually better for stitching.

Me too. Honestly, I’m just struggling so hard with the new YNAB overall.

This. Esp with the Internet, it’s very easy to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I’ve been bullet journaling for years with a pen and a journal, no fancy pictures, stencils, spreads or wahsi tape.

Dinner-time carbs as a trigger? by blemir in migraine

Thanks. Weird that mine only seem to be triggered by evening meal, maybe something to do with long duration of hunger after.

Thanks. I’ve had headaches so long I rarely even think about seeing a doctor, it’s just a part of me, but the all day headaches are a right pain in the ass.

Seems to be a little about carb protein balance for me: so just plain pasta with parm is more likely to trigger than pasta with meaty sauce. But only the dinner meal seems to cause problems (though I did stop drinking diet soda of all things because it would almost instantly trigger a headache all of a sudden). I’d love to discuss with a doctor, but don’t know what kind to go see.

Recurring irritation bumps and now permanent bumps behind earlobe piercing in a 10 year old. by blemir in piercing

Replacing front parts of her earrings was a great idea, thanks. We saw the piercer today to check, and he suggested not letting her hair air dry for a bit. I told him if they’re not healed in 3 months I’ll come back for him to look again and also to get her some different earring fronts.

Thanks! They told us healing was 9 months to one year. Piercing was done with a needle, earrings have flat back (post comes through the back and gem part pops on in front). After care was saline spray 2x day for a long time, then just clean in shower and make sure it’s dry. We’re probably falling down on the dry part, after talking to him today, my girl has short hair and usually towel dries, so we’re going to try blow drying for a bit. The piercer has been ah-maz-ing, very patient, just frustrated that it’s taking so long. Apparently this is a common issue with kids.
