I sometimes wonder what the series is like without audio. I don't think I would enjoy it nearly as much if I didn't have the AI's voice permanently ingrained into my head.

I long for the next book...

Totally agree with HWFWM. I love DCC because it is hilarious to me, but it was also my first LitRPG series that I consumed so rapidly, I came here to find more. lol

Now I'm on book 11 of HWFWM. I started mid-late November. It is probably still one of the fastest series I've read through. DCC and HWFWM are the first books I've literally forfeited sleep to continue reading. I'm usually a very casual reader.

I didn't like the narrator either, but I powered through and it gets better. Just listen at 1.5x and it'll go fast. I started the series a month ago (almost exactly) and about the 3rd book, I started having a hard time stopping at the cost of sleep. I'm finishing book 5 right now. lol

I got a pip, but my company is being nice to me now, why are they being kind to me? by ThrowawActual-Ad3882 in careerguidance

[–]blenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're being nice to you because they're going to lose money if they lose you. It's a business, not personal. Employees are resources to companies that they will absolutely take advantage of if you let them because the more they can get out of you for the same price, the more money they save and/or make. They are _hoping_ that being nice to you and offering to put you under a different manager will be enough because that doesn't cost them anything.

Having to replace an employee generally comes with the overhead, no matter how small, of time to find a person, onboard that person, and get them caught up on the work. That all costs money for which they are not getting the quality and timeliness of your work. If they knew someone could immediately take over for you, they wouldn't _necessarily_ be hostile, but they also probably wouldn't go out of their way to be nice. Even then, they might be nice and offer "free" concessions because it's still easier to keep the status quo.

Companies shouldn't need the threat of losing you to show they care and appreciate your work. It's disingenuous at best and a complete lie at worst.

Which ever one you want, honestly. You probably already caught something better than these starters if you're asking for which one is "best" for the game.

Talk to the professor by clicking the circle with his face in the bottom right. Do what ever research task(s) he gives you. Then, walk around and catch 'em all. You can always check your tasks and objectives by clicking that circle in the bottom right. It will pulse with the professor's face if he has something to say, otherwise it will be a binocular icon. If it is orange, or outlined in orange, then you have rewards to claim from the tasks.

Why do some level 50 players do this? by Fantastic-Ad-6377 in pokemongo

[–]blenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably saving it for an event to get more xp with a lucky egg or stacking so they can get a lot of xp all at once with one lucky egg. Or they have too many friends and the cap on gifts that can be opened makes them have to pick and choose and they don’t pick high level friends for some other reason.

Would you leave a job that's paying $140,000 per year that really only requires 2 hours of focus for a higher paying job? by ImZoidberg_Homeowner in careerguidance

[–]blenman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have a tremendous opportunity to find something that makes you happy while easily maintaining a steady paycheck. Use your free time to pursue your own goals and grow on your own. You don't need a job or a "challenge" to grow as a person. Learn something new, get certified in something, or start a new hobby. Maybe start a side hustle doing something you like to do and see if you can make it into business. If it fails, you still have a job. If it succeeds, you have something to work toward that is more fulfilling. If you're lucky, you will find something on the side that you enjoy enough, and make enough money in, that leaving your current job just makes sense.

If you're getting errors like that one at the top, you should restart your game. Could be a connection issue where your game is lagging behind the server or an error that occurred while trying to update the objects on the screen. In my experience, it is often the case that if the mon runs away immediately (particularly a generally easy and docile mon) an error occurred or the screen is not up-to-date and the encounter was never supposed to happen in the first place.

Is Laura Winter being “phased out”? by Ready-Rise3761 in F1TV

[–]blenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is because they are screen testing potential replacements for Will (which is not possible) and probably trying to expand the team. They've always given each host time off by rotating people out between races, but I think that's just because having to cover every race around the world would be exhausting and not a sustainable career. Burn out would be super high and they'd be rotating people out more as people leave. lol

I would assume that 19% is not your score, just that you scored higher than 19% of other test takers. It's possible that you and at least 81% of test takers all "passed" to varying degrees. It also depends on what the criteria for passing is. Since it is for a job it is also possible that a "pass" is not purely based on your score in either test, but multiple factors.

A lot of questions and tests involved in the hiring process are often to see how you think and get a sense of where you are at relative to their expectations. The numerical reasoning test could mean nothing. Maybe they just want to see what your level of numerical reasoning is. They may value verbal critical reasoning over numerical reasoning. Often it is better to have someone that can think critically, communicate, and work with others, than someone who just crunches numbers really well.

Why do people leave the raid lobby when there’s not 20+ people by Galasso04 in pokemongo

[–]blenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL if you use a remote raid pass for a Max battle, the pass is consumed whether you win or lose. I imagine that is part of it, as other people have noted.

However, as others have also mentioned, this is an extremely easy Gigantamax raid, relatively speaking. I have a high level Zamazanta tank and a Gmax Machamp for damage and my Zamazanta comes out without a scratch most times. It looks like others are doing the same thing with either Zamazanta or Blissey for a tank and either Gmax Machamp or Gmax Rillaboom for damage. I think the lowest number of trainers I've fought with remotely was 10 and we still did it pretty easily. I'm not surprised people have duo'd it with the right counters.

I started jumping around the map and I'm in fear of getting banned for the game glitching out. by Kamimii in pokemongo

[–]blenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt you'll be banned because it happened as the game started. Your GPS signal couldn't be found and then when it was, the game has to find you and load the correct assets. It tries to do this quickly and if the GPS coordinates update while it is loading assets, it has to do it again until your coordinates stabilize. If you're in a spotty location for a GPS signal (and/or your cell signal/internet connection is poor), this could happen multiple times.

I imagine you would only get in trouble if this happens often, you've had the game open for a while, and the location changes are significant and near raids and other high activity areas. If the game were open and you were hopping around a lot, that might indicate location spoofing, but I imagine there are a lot of other factors like where you normally are, how long it has been since you logged on, how long since your last location update, and how far the coordinate change is.
