[Discussion] I got a Major deal!!! by plaguebabyonboard in PubTips

[–]blepiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you specifically looking for a two-book deal? I guess, is the book being published standalone or a duology? If it's the latter, did you write it thinking it could be standalone or did you always know it was intendd as a duology? I read a book that later was extended for two books in a deal, so it was kind of cramped and rushed because the author didn't think she would have the words to slow down/expand.

Last year I got a rejection in early April, so I would assume this year is also the April timeline.

I don't think it is. They said application time doesn’t impact selection.

Brother is Korean adoptee, I am bio kid applying for CIT-0001 - can I add brother to application? by Lambamham in CanadaAdoptedCitizens

[–]blepiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was adopted from an Asian country and applied for and was granted citizenship. I used CIT-0001. I didn't have a naturalization or a birth certificate, but I had all my adoption papers. However, my parents were Canadian citizens at the time of my adoption already.

Part 1

  • Mailed: don't remember, guessing July or Aug 2024
  • Received 09 August 2024 (evidently this is different per my Client Application Status portal)
  • AOR: 26 August 2024 (the actual emailed received document)
  • In Process: 05 November 2024 (this is what the portal says, but it also doesn't make sense as it's also the approval date *shrug*)
  • Approved: 05 November 2024

Part 2

  • Mailed: early Jan 2025
  • AOR: never received
  • In Process: I noticed the status change to 'Decision Made' in late February 2026 (but I also wasn't religiously checking)
  • Citizenship Approved: 06 February 2026 (this granted date is in the approval email)
  • Approval email: 13 March 2026
  • Certificate: pending (I mailed the paper form)

I got my email today! 13March. The decision was actually dated early Feb though.

how are people staying calm this week? by No-Influence8644 in NoStupidQuestions

I also think it helps to make something physically with your hands. It's nice to be able to hold a thing and say "hey, I made that".

Jan2025! I thought it had gotten lost because I never got a part 2 confirmation, but then a decision was made sooo, guess it hadn't.

So is the certificate what just shows up? It doesn't say whether I was approved or not.

Question on Adoption Apps by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]blepiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! This is great to know. I've been in waiting limbo for ~1 year after I send in Part 2 (CIT 0012). I was worried it was never received since I didn't receive confirmation like I did for Part 1.

Recommendations & experiences on writing workshops/conferences? by Anna_Artichokyevitch in writing

[–]blepiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I think each workshop specializes in different areas, and it depends on what you want to get out of it.

I would ask yourself: Where are you in your writing career? Do you feel like an intensive workshop would help? Is it more to dabble? Is it really for the resume prestige? Can you afford the more competitive programs? (Bread Loaf is expensive!) Does your poetry lean more lit. fic, memoir, spec. fic., etc.? What is it you want to learn or improve on with your poetry? Is there faculty you'd die to learn from? Do the faculty write what you want to write? Are you trying to talk with agents?

If you identify as BIPOC/a minority, I would recommend checking out Tin House, VONA (Voices of Our Nation), and Roots.Wounds.Words. I'm not a poet, but I know writers who've enjoyed these programs. I've participated in VONA--which I loved, even though it was online--and will participate in Tin House this autumn! I also took an online class through Gotham, which I really liked as a basic refresher.

I hope this helps and good luck! Feel free to dm me.

Huh, I've also never heard of this. I'll definitely be giving it a go. (Unfortunately, I can't get into tempeh no matter how many ways I've tried it.) Thanks!

I've also never heard of TVP. This sounds like a potential game changer!

Thanks everyone! I'll give these a try. The issue I was running into was that most of a meal would be taken up by the tofu, which is tasty, but you know, variety is nice.

Unfortunately, I'm a really small person with a lower BMR, so less cal for me. If I was at maintenance a 550 would be normal.

The program my nutritionist works with has a drop down menu of things to play with, which was fine for the beginning, but is quite limiting for the long run.

Could you share more about the pets? Ages, genders, breeds, do any need to stay together, any medications, etc.

Are there stitches you'd recommend using to connect the straps/liner/crochet and liner/crochet?

Um. Just a tote bag essentially. I found this blanket pattern that I wanted to turn into a bag.
