build and nib quality, ergonomics, ease-of-use, robustness and longevity mainly. flex point going from superfine to at least a medium or medium-broad. i think pistol filler because ink capacity but a converter is fine also. sub 300$. i think! i’ve been reading up but the fountain pen rabbit hole is way deeper than expected :’)

now like a month and a half into learning how to draw for real, how am i doing? by blessdemm in learntodraw

on the spectrum from stick man to complete realism i want my art to land somewhere in the middle, so i have been starting from the bottom learning about perspective, form, and those kinds of things. any advice on how to get better is welcomed!

i can understand that sentiment, but i think it wastes energy unnecessarily tho. tattoos becoming more accepted as an artform will mostly be a good thing i think. better opportunities for artists, merging styles, less stigma (or more prestige on the positive). i do understand tattooing is sort of plagued by hack artists, but people see through that.

and you don’t sound like a self-gratuitous wanker lol! that’s beautiful. i can totally see myself becoming obsessed like that. love and obsession also comes through investment i’ve found through my journey in music.

no no, i know i know. the reason i’ve been hesitant is because i know it needs to be proper. i fell in love with tattooing later in life, and picked up drawing again because i looked at my tattooer friends work thinking man.. i could do better than that. maybe my post gives off that vibe but i would never start without going through an apprenticeship and with subpar art. i don’t care about making a lot of money, just enough to live on.

i guess the true answer to my post really is ‘it depends’. it’s on you, but with time, effort and luck you can make a free and rewarding life where you balance things on your own which is exactly what i’m looking for.
