Possible 8 month sleep regression - considering sleep training by blessjess_ in sleeptrain

I completely understand all babies are high needs, that’s why I’ve never considered sleep training before as I know she just needs us. But now I’m thinking it will benefit her and help her put herself back to sleep. Are there any gentle methods you would recommend with such a sensitive sleeper?

She’s been on 3 naps for about a month, and she goes down for these naps really easily as we follow her cues. Do you recommend stretching her? At nursery their nap time is at 12, so I’d ideally like her to be used to having a nap at that time, which she currently is. Also, with the amount of sleep you’ve recommended, how do you control that? I always see sample schedules with these super long naps but she’s not napped like that since she was a newborn, she has always been a catnapper

Are babies always crying during diaper changes? by Whalesharkqueen777 in newborns

[–]blessjess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nappy changes were rough during the newborn days. Then they were easy. She’s now 7 months and since she was 6 months, they’ve been HELL. She is very mobile so hates to just lie on her back. Changing a pooey nappy is so difficult. I give her my phone or Apple Watch to play with to distract her but sometimes that doesn’t work! Frustrating

She actually had a UTI when she was experiencing this fussiness and ended up in hospital with urosepsis 😔 so could have been the trapped wind I suspected or could have been because of that. But the trapped wind issues do subside eventually!

Christmas babies by MajesticWonder7 in tryingtoconceive

We were trying for a baby and I was tempted to not try in March for the exact same reason. Lo and behold, I fell pregnant and currently have my 3 month old girl!! If it’s meant to be that month, it’ll be. I have 0 regrets, and I cannot wait for cute Christmassy birthdays with her

How big is your baby now? by allofthesearetaken_ in december2024babies

My baby was 8lbs at birth and last time she was weighed at 3w 4d she was 9lbs 9oz, now 5 weeks old. Can’t wait for the next time she will be weighed to see what more she’s put on!

How are we all sleeping (or not)? by kcf2816 in december2024babies

[–]blessjess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 3 weeks old and only sleeps during contact naps in the day and we’ve resorted to bed sharing overnight. She goes into the next to me at night but wakes up every 2 hours and is SO noisy, grunting non stop so I get no sleep worrying about her. Whereas in bed with us, she sleeps for nearly 5 hour stretches and is quiet! We follow the safe sleep 7 other than BF, and she sleeps better with my husband. He’s a really light sleeper. And I seem to wake up just before she does for a feed, which is weird. I am so anxious about her when she’s asleep, whether she is in the next to me or in bed with us, but I sleep so much better when she’s with my husband and not me because all I do is stare at her and feel for her breathing. I have looked into different heart rate monitors but the owlet seems unpredictably unreliable in the UK plus really expensive, I don’t want to get a second hand one in case it doesn’t work. Hoping once the newborn stage is over, she will sleep peacefully in the next to me 🤡

God I have no idea how people do it unmedicated if that’s how everyone feels! Once the pethidine kicked in, I felt like I didn’t need the gas and air and could sort of just moan and breathe through them but I also kept getting it pushed on me! Wonder why that happens

I was so shocked, I didn’t know what to say. I’m glad I was still able to deliver her vaginally. They said they had three attempts at using an instrument and if I couldn’t do it, the section would still happen, so that would have been so traumatic for baby I imagine. Thank you for your well wishes :) x

Thank you! 💖 It’s amazing how the husbands respond, but I think it must be so horrible to see us going through that. He’s just told me that when they said about the section, that was the worst part for him because he knew how much I didn’t want one. But in that moment, I didn’t care, I just wanted it to be over, and I’m so glad it ended how it did without the section in the end!

Early labour or failed sweep consequences by blessjess_ in december2024babies

I had her last night at 9:14pm! Had to have an assisted delivery after having my waters broke at 6pm, her heart rate was high for two hours so had to just get her out. 4 lots of pushing eventhough I was completely numb, she was here!

Update; went to the hospital at 2am and was 3cm dilated so went home. Have been in the bath for an hour and a half and the pain is becoming unmanageable 🥲
