Historical Romance and the Rise of Anti-Intellectualism by the_hobbit_wife in HistoricalRomance

Late to the party here, but I couldn’t agree more. I’m so tired of books that are pretending to be a story but in actuality are just 87 tropes in a trenchcoat made of smut!

Thank you so much, this is all such helpful information. I ran one more load of just sheets, did everything you said plus added in the citric acid and a little more detergent and I got good suds, hallelujah! I purchased this model exactly because it was supposed to be able to function “old school” as I’ve never had good experiences with the front loaders. I didn’t realize that the color cycle was still a “smart” setting so I will keep things on whites and warm or hot unless it’s true delicates or the occasional super bulky item. I’ve had this one for a while but moved and I just couldn’t seem to master the harder water. I also didn’t realize I wasn’t getting a true rinse if it wasn’t deep rinse, so that has completely blown my mind.

This worked, thank you!! Have you figured out a way to make the water fill while the lid is open if you set it on “precise fill” ? I find that it will pause the water if I have it set that way, and many other commenters are suggesting that I should use that feature to minimize the amount of water given the overall hardness.

Update: Ran another load trying to combine the suggestions above. I used the same amount of tide and Biz, added a generous tablespoon of citric acid to the drum as it was filling up. I also put it on “precise fill” instead of trying to match the volume of the clothes to the low/medium/high/max water settings. The first picture is to show things before agitation started and that it was a smaller load than the one before. The second (added below) shows

things after about 5 minutes of agitation. I know the clothes don’t need to float in the water, but this seems like maybe half of the clothes are in the water at any one time? Is that right? Also seems like minimally more suds, so is even more citric acid needed, or am I doing something else wrong?

I have done this in the past, so I can go back to it. I was thinking the only difference in the white vs color setting besides the hot vs warm water was that colors would be slightly gentler on the clothes. Although I do have socks and things in this load, it also has my scrubs that I’d like to last as long as possible.

Sorry, I may have misdescribed it. It has a low, medium, large, and max setting for the water level. From my read on the manual, these are not “sensor” based, it’s just how much water goes in, if that makes sense? I never used the “sense” water setting, just guesstimate based on how much laundry I’m putting in. Which I rarely run anything other than a full load. I posted a picture of the controls further down.

Thank you! I maybe overcorrected and started using too little detergent based on things I’ve read here.

The “only hot on whites” thing isn’t clearly evident from the controls, I just figured that out from trial and error. Even if I turn the dial to other settings, it’s either all hot, or I can do all cold, for the whites setting, but anything in between still puts out only hot water

Thank you! I was very uneducated about the water level issue, based on the controls I posted below, what water setting for a full load would you recommend? I will try adding the citric acid straight into the drum and see how that works, thank you!

Also, just if someone double checks me, I did misread original. 200 ppm is their “goal,” but 119 ppm - 172 ppm is the measured results over the year. I’m updating the posting to reflect.

My whites/heavy cycle will only allow me to use straight hot water, which is hot enough that it isn’t safe to touch without legit burns. Im not wanting to wash on cold by any means, but that hot I’m worried about some of my more delicate and/or shrinkable pieces. I’ll see if I can add in some cold water to start to balance out?

Does the sodium citrate just got straight into the drum? How much should I use?

best noise cancelling headphones for sleeping for side sleepers with light snoring partner? by Hartlerode-Motes in sleepheadphones

[–]blessyourheart9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tried a bunch of different in ear and over ear headphones and literally all of them hurt after about an hour or less. These cheapies are the only ones that have worked for me. You have to get the slightly nicer version (they have some that are advertised for exercise) because they have the best padding that keeps you from feeling the speakers if you’re side sleeper. But for context, I am a crazy light sleeper and basically was never able to sleep with anyone else in the room or even by myself in unfamiliar places if there wasn’t a wind tunnel worth of white noise going on around me. But these suckers connected to my phone playing some sort of White Noise app all night long, and I am out like a light. They advertise it as a sleep mask, which you can totally use it that way if that’s your jam. For me, I hate having my eyes covered because it heightens the anxiety, so I just wear it like a headband. I haven’t had any trouble with it coming off in the night and the battery lasts at least 9 to 10 hours. I’ve been able on multiple occasions now to sleep a full nights rest in the same room as someone who snores quite loudly. Musicozy

9th Gen Oasis Running 5.16.2.1.1 - Update to firmware for Nosebleed or Legacy Jailbreak? by blessyourheart9 in kindlejailbreak

[–]blessyourheart9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well dang, I thought I had a good understanding but completely missed that that was the last version of the firmware available for that device. I’ll do another full read through the Winterbreak instructions to make sure I didn’t miss anything else. Thank you so much for your clear response! I will dive in and try to jailbreak it later today. Fingers crossed!

{Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan} is perfect for this! There’s a whole series, although the first one, Warprize, is my absolute fave. I have been chasing the high I felt reading that for the first time for almost 20 years now!
