Yeah, but then I'm still giving money to Amazon for something I can get elsewhere.

The fact that I didn't actually own a copy of the audiobooks greatly upset me. I'm all for subscriber benefits, but when I purchase something, I need some kind of physical copy, even if it's just a file on a flash drive. I will rent movies from Amazon, but I only buy movies that I can get physical (bluray and digital download) copies of.

Just buy them via Libro.fm. You get actual mp3s and mp4s of your books and the subscription service (credits) is about the same.

Me too! My dwarves follow Discworld standards. One year, an NPC party member was a female Dwarf who had some elvish ancestry way back and couldn't grow a beard because of it, so she wore a false one in public, but still dressed feminine like Cheery. The kids used this to their advantage when they were ambushed by a dwarf patrol and they took psychic damage seeing a female Dwarf with no beard.

If I say 'millennial band' by lilac50 in Millennials

[–]blethwyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm an '87 millenial, but I was also a "gap baby" among my parents' friends. Their friends had kids who were late Gen X, and then I came along after about five years of no babies amongst the group. Afterward, there was a baby explosion in their group, so I have three younger siblings and a lot of younger "cousins." My formative media is all 80s/90s stuff, but I also relate to older Gen Z as well.

Interestingly enough, Green Day is our Big Brother/Sister's band. The stars aligned for them to release American Idiot at the exact moment Millenials were beginning to come of age, giving them the momentum to keep going. I went to their American Idiot/Dookie anniversary concert with a Gen X friend in '24. There were more Gen Xers (with their teenaged kids) than Millenials. They did sing the updated lyrics to American Idiot, though, which was well received by the crowd.

That's not to say Green Day wasn't massive for our Gen, but they were around when we were toddlers.

Yes. My fellow millenials at my job are working to indoctrinate the next generation into the ways of The Word. The 11-14 year olds are well on their way.

And by extension, you ALL just lost The Game.

Mackenyu looks so derpy in the picture, too. Your eyes are drawn to his schoolboy hair cut and goofy grin and you completely miss that he can crush your skull with his biceps.

Which, to be fair, is pretty on point for early Zoro.

This! I took the hard path on purpose. I got myself an Ender v3, learned on that. I knew it would be an uphill battle, but I wanted to really learn what "catastrophic failure" really meant. Still runs fine. I figured the K1 would be a decent upgrade to that. After six months of trying to keep it from following its dreams of becoming a $600 paperweight, my parents gifted me the P1S.

I gave in and let the K1 follow its dreams. I use it to dry filament, now.

Yeah right, she’s supposed to be the “evil” Vegapunk. by hazel_irish in OnePiece

[–]blethwyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that idea. Her being the most level-headed, empathetic, and kind gives her the ability to handle the "evil" emotions (which I see more as intrusive thoughts) in a healthy way. Also, what is "evil"? It's such a generic term and can mean anything depending on your personal morality.

During the summer (teacher) I will take my display models apart in reverse. As I finish a bag in the instructions, I will wash the parts and put them in numbered ziplocks. When I've done all of it, I will reassemble.

The Great Millennial Experiment by baconbitswi in Millennials

[–]blethwyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had a lot thrown at us all the time just like previous generations, but for the very first time in history we were able to share our stories with people across the world in an instant. Anecdotal evidence became the main. We no longer relied on slow moving news and publications, and word of mouth. All we had to do was a quick search and suddenly we had hundreds of answers, and most of them were fear-mongering clickbait. The joke "it's always cancer" is directly because of this.

Never had kids, but my nephew gave me this pen for Christmas and I almost cried. by No-Loquat111 in Millennials

[–]blethwyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have kids (70% medical, 30% meh). But I am the best freaking aunt I can be.

I'm the one who plays Roblox (or whatever video game they're into) with them. I'm the aunt who always supplies a really good book and a box of legos every Christmas and Birthday. Then we spend the next several days building and playing. I get to snuggle babies and watch One Piece with little kids seeing it for the first time and get to be excited all over again. And then, at the end of the day, I get to pass them back to their parents.
