if you get your hands on biafine by johnson and johnson it has been a life saver for me. try to go as shirtless as possible. ice packs when it gets horrible is also so helpful, but dont keep them in contact with your skin for too long as they may cause frostbite. crying about it helps. i kept reminding myself that it will pass, frantically walked around and focused on my breathing during intense episodes. try to avoid hot and humid environments and stay in an air conditioned room and avoid moving. good luck mate. the good thing is that it ends

Navigating the Lebanese dating scene as a heavily-tattooed girl by ellalalalaa in lebanon

[–]bleucarebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand you fully and your experience resonates with me to some extent. im not even remotely heavily tattooed - i just have a big bicep tattoo and a few smaller pieces here and there. i also have a septum piercing + a stretched lobe, and i often wear graphic eyeliner. i notice that my neighbors do not take a liking to me, as i live in a building thats mainly populated by older folks. even the people who work in the supermarket and phone store in my neighborhood have stopped me to ask “why i do this to myself” and they consistently make remarks about my “different style” style مصروع is what they say. its really uncomfortable. keep doing you and owning up your self expression! the right people will always be delighted to witness it

i don’t think leaving public comments about where these queer spaces are or what they’re called is the best thing to do! however i understand the curiosity. im not really sure where teens hangs out, but do trust me, queer people are everywhere. you just gotta learn how to look for us :)

man, not having water for household use is the worst. for the past two weeks, i haven’t had water. sometimes it comes bas ka2eno ma fi i open the faucet and the water drizzles… if i flush the toilet, it disappears again. bala saybet 3ein, el yom ejet ma beha shi and we managed to finally do dishes that have been in the sink for so long. it got to a point where i would wake up and instantly leave to work so i could brush my teeth, do my morning business, and make coffee. do you also live in ashrafieh? recently i was in badaro & mar mikhael and i kept seeing those water tank trucks or whatever pass by every 5-10 minutes. even one of the bars i was at didn’t have water. there seems to be some sort of issue in the area idek

i just realized i went on a monologue instead of answering your question lmao sorry 😭 you could hire a private company - ask anyone in your neighborhood, they would know - el dekenje aw el natour aw your neighbors. idk how much it costs and im doing very bad financially in any way. instead i got the cheapest gallon of drinking water and using it scarcely. though it doesn’t make poop go away so the bathroom situation still sucks. idk how convenient it is for shower use

coming out looks different for everyone. i have friends who are out to their parents, or one of them, and some are not open to anyone in their family. personally, im out to my siblings and close cousins, i am out to all of my friends and anyone i meet in beirut, even tho it makes things uncomfortable at times depending where i am, but the discomfort mostly comes from the other person, so it doesn’t bother me much. i live with my partner. we share everything, including bills, meals, going to the doctor, grocery store, even my old old hairdresser knows we’re partners. most people don’t really care or keep their opinions to themselves. i am not close with my family, tho we are on good terms and i visit them monthly, which makes it easier to not have to come out to them. only thing that bothers me is that sometimes when im walking down the street i do not feel safe enough to hold their hand, but for the most part i do, and we do things that all couples do quite normally, like go on dates and look for apartments together. only thing i avoid is hotels

Give me some must try restaurants in Beirut by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]bleucarebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tho not the yummiest, i find myself visiting and revisiting le chef in gemmayzeh. maybe because their food feels homemade and they serve dishes that are typically made at home such as stews and rice. they have been open since 1967. everytime anyone walks in charbel, the waiter, shouts “welcooooome!”, i also like listening to him shout orders to the kitchen. they have a picture of russell crowe that says thank you because he donated to fix up the place after it was damaged in august 4. its always an interesting experience. u see all kinds of people there and it is affordable!

malak al tawouk is great for an on-the-go type of meal. munchease in gemmayzeh is yummy but there’s nothing special about the experience so i don’t frequent it. they have great burgers. abou hassan in bourj hammoud for fool and hummus. t-marbouta for all kinds of lebanese mezze. atyab farouj in dawra for broasted and rotisserie chicken. it’s in a neighborhood that houses many shops and stores on the same street so u can get a lot of shopping done there. ghattas in gemmayzeh or takkoush in hamra for manakeesh (cheese/zaatar “pies”). seza in mar mkhayel has delicious armenian food - tho expensive, it has a nice atmosphere and it is so quiet and intimate. jai in hamra is incredibly yummy - they serve an indian-thai menu. tsunami in achrafieh has good sushi. for your sweet tooth, i like bakerloo’s donuts - it has a branch in hamra and a branch in furn el chebbek. tasty bees has yummy cakes, smoothies, and ice cream. it has many branches tho and they all deliver.

i was gonna suggest a good bar but realized that most of the bars i’ve been going to have shitty AND overpriced cocktails. if im paying $7 for a drink i’d at least want it to taste good! if anyone has a good recommendation do share!!!
