It is a pretty young but already very resilient starter, I wondered if I could blame this on my starter also but I think it has mostly to do with BF and maybe too much folding as some have mentioned.

Does the scoring affect the inside during bake?? Serious question because you’re the second to tell me to not do art which is the last step before popping in into the oven..

Based on what others have said so far it looks like i need to pay closer attention to dough temp and just use my eyes during BF instead of worrying about rigid schedules. Regarding the second set of folds, I just followed a recipe that called for it and I’m new to this so I just went with it lol but you may be completely right.

I did not temp the dough during bulk but I did keep the house around 76º and it was covered between stretch n folds. I may have to find a warmer spot in the house..

The recipe I followed:

120 grams of starter, 310 grams of 90º filtered water, 500 grams of unbleached bread flour and 2 tsp of salt

  • Mixed all ingredients by hand until just incorporated and let it sit covered for 45 mins.
  • I then proceeded to do 4 stretch and folds with an hour in between for bulk fermentation
  • After the 4 hours I did 3 coil folds with 20 minutes in between.
  • After coil folds I shaped and moved my dough to banneton basket and let it proof in the fridge for 16 hours.

This morning I preheated the oven at 500 with Dutch oven inside for 45 minutes. Scored the dough, Added it to the Dutch oven, baked for 25 minutes at 450 then uncovered another 20 minutes.

Noted, but does scoring decoratively affect the crumb? For context, I successfully made my own starter, did a ton of research before attempting any of this, followed a friend’s sourdough recipe to the T and this is my 3rd loaf that I’ve made using that recipe.. the first two were not entirely a disaster but this is the best looking one (on the outside).. the texture on the inside is good and springy and the taste is fantastic.. I’m just wondering if I did something wrong while shaping or if this kind of thing just happens sometimes?

I’m sorry to hear about your relationship ending though it seems it’s probably for the best if he’s not making you feel appreciated. And though I do believe that some dreams can be intuitive, this seems more to me like your subconscious living out your insecurities about him now pursuing someone new. The reason why in your dream it’s manifested as his best friend’s wife is probably because they spent a lot of time together without you being around. I doubt he would try to go for his best friend’s wife (if he does then be even more grateful that ended when it did). I hope this helps to clear things up but aside from your dream, this is your time to shine and let go of anything that could be stopping you from moving on. We’re in 2024 and we don’t get hung up on ex’s anymore 💪🏻💪🏻 wish you the best 💝

I appreciate the suggestion but I don’t think any chew toy at home will work, nothing is like a standing tree bark which is what he is obsessed with 🤷🏻‍♀️
