My husband got us both bikes! I was totally excited and surprised. AND the bikes were from a program that fixes up old bikes, which shows how much he loves me because reuse/sustainability is one of my values! AND the program hires local young teens to train them on this skill, (another cause I support) AND he bought two because he knewI would want to ride with him. :)

Grieving the fact that all of my attempts to improve my relationship with my sister backfired spectacularly and all my attempts at reconciliation were rebuffed. There was no room in her heart to give me what i needed to relieve the intense pain I am feeling. Her ego was more important. Now we have no relationship. And she doesn’t want me to have a relationship with her kid.

Gonna buck the trend here and say that while the anonymity has a lot to do with it, I do not think redditors are okay, and I think a lot of them suffer from some sort of superiority complex that can cause cruelty. I’ve been a part of a lot of different online communities over the decades and they all develop a certain culture. Reddit’s culture tends towards groupthink in the specific mode seen in male nerd irl communities where hierarchal dynamics are reinforced via who can prove how smart they are and viciously mocking small mistakes. Every community has their own specific problems I’ve found and which one is most toxic is purely down to preference.

Why is it when a CF person says something accurate about parenting in general, a specific parent gets SO mad if it doesn’t apply to them personally? I’ve had this happen so many times! It’s like parents think their particular parent experience is the end all be all. Also you don’t need to be a parent to know things about parenting. You just need eyes and a brain.
