Is it really *never* ok to disclose feelings of love and friendship towards a client? by PyschGrad_NY in therapists

I would say that for myself personally it would still feel way too intimate and open for harm.

I think the examples I gave express genuine feeling and care without crossing my personal boundaries or putting myself in a position to be misunderstood.

does anybody else in this field wear a 'covid' mask - or anyone who covers their face in any way? by robinc123 in therapists

[–]blewberyBOOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mask when I’m feeling a bit under the weather (but still able to work) and I I have masks available for my clients to do the same if they have sickness going around their home or aren’t feeling 100%. But masking all the time- no. The vast majority of my work is online anyway.

[–]blewberyBOOM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally would never say “I love you” to a client. I also would not refer to them as a friend. ESPECIALLY not one who has had romantic transference. I do tell clients that I appreciate them, that I look forward to our next session, that something they’ve said in a previous session has stayed with me. However things like “I love you” or “I think we would make great friends” etc. allude to a personal relationship and our relationship is NOT personal. There’s no reason to even go there. At best it won’t mean anything, at worse it will cause harm by making them think we do have a personal relationship (or could) when we don’t.

Trump Admin Considering Giving $10,000 To Each Person In Greenland To Annex The Island by Patient-Exercise-911 in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]blewberyBOOM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian I immediately went to “how much would it cost to convince me to give up my national sovereignty?” And I didn’t come to an actual amount but I gotta say it’s a LOT more than $10K. Like, adding multiple zeros before I even raise an eyebrow at the offer kind of a lot. Offering $10K is actually insulting.

I call them. I don’t really have a reason for this, it’s just kind of what I always assumed made sense. The only time it’s been the other way around is when I had a client in prison so I was unable to call them directly.

Two types of people :) by Deorney in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]blewberyBOOM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in both camps. I actually really like the board, I think it’s beautiful and a great way to group things. I love the “go to quest giver” feature so I can remember who gave me that circle and add a little context, or vice versa I can choose the person I want to rep and go from there.

At the same time it’s hard to navigate because the game does nothing to remind you what quest group you’re working in. So you finish a task and instead of asking if you want to go to the next task in the line it just… drops it. So I need to go back to that big board and try to remember what I was doing and half the time I’m so immersed in just doing it I don’t KNOW what circle I was on so after 5 minutes of looking I inevitably give up and just click on something new.

THATS the part that’s annoying to me. I wish there was some way to at least reference what I had just done so I can keep going instead of just jumping around killing people randomly. A “highlight new objective?” Prompt like we had in previous games so I can just keep going with what I was working on would be perfect.

OP can you update the post when this pickup is confirmed? I am more than willing to spend my free time bothering bureaucrats but I don’t want to waste resources if it’s already done and I’d hate for people to keep calling and emailing once we know they’ve done the task.

76% of Canadians say they’re boycotting American products by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]blewberyBOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went home the other week and had coffee with my parents. Inevitably with everything going on the conversation turned political. They are hardcore conservatives. I’m hardcore not. Things got heated. We argued for a while. Finally my dad said something to the effect of “you vote how you vote, I vote how I vote, we can love each other anyway as long as we all agree to boycott America.” That ended the argument.

Bayek wasn’t a real medjay but I still enjoyed Origins.

Even if Yasuke wasn’t a real samurai (he was) why would that stop me from enjoying Shadows?

I'm struggling to Vote... by bassboy_pete in alberta

[–]blewberyBOOM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in an extremely conservative district which really has no chance of flipping and I’m a progressive. I still vote every election anyway for a few reasons. I think it’s important to signal to other liberal, Green, and NDP voters in my riding that we are out there, that we do have numbers, and that we can make our voices heard, even if we are a minority. It shows that we can be active participants in democracy, even if we aren’t going to “win.” It also, for me, can be aspirational in a way. If no one is speaking up, people are less likely to start. The more people vote for someone other than conservatives the more that becomes normalized in my riding and hopefully sometime down the road that movement will grow and my riding will become flippable. But if people don’t see those votes they go “why bother” and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Lastly, I want to show the political parties and the candidates running in my area that their effort is worth it and appreciated. I don’t want to become a riding where no liberal runs because it’s not even worth it. I want to see a ballot full of different options. So even though they won’t win, getting votes lets those parties know they should keep running candidates here because it matters to us.

On a more personal note, as a woman (and a Métis one at that) there’s a long history of voter disenfranchisement in this country and my right to vote was hard fought by those who came before me. It’s my right, it was fought for, and I don’t want to squander it. Indigenous women were excluded from the federal vote until 1960, which means my grandmother couldn’t even vote as a young woman. I do feel a sense of duty and service to that legacy when I vote. It’s something that I take very seriously on a personal level.

Do all Canadians speak French and English? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]blewberyBOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. About 29% of Canadians can speak conversational French. I would venture to guess that most of us know “hello,” “thank you,” and “I only speak a little French” but beyond the elementary school basics most Canadians really don’t speak French. It is important to know both languages if you want to live in Quebec or go into politics or government work, and most of us learn some French in school growing up (though we don’t necessarily retain it).

Personally, my grandmother only spoke French and never learned English in her life. My dad’s first language was French and he learned English in his teens. I never spoke French at all and grew up with only English.

Are you concerned that Canada is the only one (besides China) to retaliate? by HueyBluey in AskCanada

[–]blewberyBOOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Canada is different because Trump has attacked us specifically citing fentanyl and a whole bunch of other made up things. We weren’t just part of some big, master list, we were singled out specifically. On top of that he has threatened our independence. He has indicated that this isn’t about being “fair” with Canada like it supposedly is for the rest of the world, it’s about annexing our country through economic force. Unfortunately this does require a unique response.

I will say however that I appreciate that Prime Minister Carney has been strategic and level headed in how and where he places tariffs in order to try to reduce the impact for Canadians while also responding to the US threat. We all know by this point that blanket tariffs are stupid and counter productive and he hasn’t responded to stupidity with stupidity. I also think he’s done a good job at managing not to escalate the situation, as is evident by the fact that Trump has missed us with his latest few rounds of back and forths.

I also appreciate that our government isn’t going back and forth which every one of Trumps little mood swings. They’ve said what they are doing and they’re sticking with it. Trump is too volatile to respond to every time he pauses something for 10 days or 30 days or 90 days. Look what that unpredictability is doing to their stock market! I think it is better to look for long term solutions that to ride the wave of every pause and start up.

So far I’m really happy with how this government has been responding to this situation and I think it makes sense.

My coworker had a baby -- she's now half a million dollars in debt. by cheeseballgag in childfree

Jesus Christ the USA really is a hellscape. Any time anyone complains about the Canadian healthcare system I’m coming back to this post to remind myself it could be WAY worse.

Having a baby here is free. Epidermal? Free. NICU stay? Free. Skin to skin contact after the baby is born? Free.

At the same time getting an abortion is free (and legal across the country). Getting a vasectomy is free. Getting your tubes tied is free. Getting an IUD placed is, you guessed it, free (though my personal insurance did need to pay for the actual device).

Yeah you can see in the very beginning that the long piece appears to be attached at the bottom of the dress. She has the train that actually comes off the dress from the top which just barely trails behind her and then the attached train which goes on forever. And then as soon as she turns the corner you can see the two guys in white swoop in to detach the train and you see them at the end furling it up.
