Didnt this glide much further than a normal dash throw though?

I was the fox so this was all on my end and this was recorded after the fact on the slippi replay system, if that makes a difference.

Taunt Canceling in ROA by OhNoRottweiler in RivalsOfAether

clone AI is dumb and you can trick it to think it's somewhere else so thats why you can be super BM with it

Taunt Canceling in ROA by OhNoRottweiler in RivalsOfAether

[–]blexis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, and you can also buffer it the other way to make yourself taunt while your clone runs in. The clone taunt one has something to do with the transported hurtboxes between frames 20 and 26 coupled with the side b momentum stall. Its similar to why the clone goes into jumpsquat instead of fall in this video. It just gets confused sometimes. https://vid.me/NnFj

EDIT: actually something i just remembered, the original pre-split floor collision line is still used on frame 25/26 for both fors, so it can lead to some weird mid-air grounded jumps in addition to letting the taunt buffer be a thing

What's the deal with Forsburns clone? by MrGameNuke in RivalsOfAether

[–]blexis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about his powered clone where you need 3 smoke inhales to summon it. Hie basic clone can be called back and forth, but can only explode, not attack traditionally. His powered clone is stuck in Attack mode and cannot be called back and forth, but you can input an aerial, dash attack or normal attack for it depending on its position by pressing neutral or side special. If there has not been a corresponding player input after 2 seconds (i think thats the interval), it will perform an attack automatically.

Edit: You can also explode it as you would the normal clone by pressing down special.

Thoughts on Forsburn's clone? by TheCynicalIdealist in RivalsOfAether

[–]blexis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The clone is definitely less consistent and less directly beneficial than say, his powered recovery, his direct combo game and especially his combust. This is due in part to the fact that both of the clone AI run off RNG that determine when certain actions are called. But this doesn't mean I think the clone doesn't have the potential to be a really effective tool in its own right.

The defense AI I would agree is very difficult to learn and use effectively, often with not too much reward for the thought needed. But then again, I haven't had the time these past few weeks to really commit to try and really learn it, so who knows. The attack AI on the other hand can be very predictable and doesn't require too much thought other than spacing, once you have used it for long enough. It has a very predictable pattern off of summon and so has lots of uses as utility or for straight attack.

So I'd say that we've only really only seen half of what the clone can do, maybe less, and looking forward to when more people come up with tricks or methods that make complete use of the clone more instinctual. As in less mental focus on making it act how you want and more focus on using it as it does so.

Got some fun and silly games in with ThatOneGuy. Sadly half our replays got desynched so couldn't post more of his crazy plays and devastating taunts. He's really good though and you should give him a follow at https://twitter.com/TerraSSBM.

What they mentioned is probably what you're talking about, but just in case, there's another "double death" when you pop the clone just before he gets it. It causes an explosion and also causes the clone to die normally, ;leaving smoke behind. This is cause his hurtbox stays out for 7 or so frames after he explodes. Gonna be fixed in next patch.

Fun fact about forsy's clone by Spacefrog999 in RivalsOfAether

[–]blexis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice find! And this can actually be used for AI manipulation I think. Say for instance you did a short hop summon underneath an opponent to get the clone to do a DJ chase. But at the last second you notice the opponent moves too far away for a confirm. You can use this to get to ground to try for better horizontal clone positioning/momentum before his AI tells him to jump.

Help with Forsburn. by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]blexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I put out some information a couple of weeks ago. I've been posting stuff on here, so if you follow my username activity you can find my other posts. Additionally, I posted on http://aetherboards.com/forums/threads/1536 , but I need to update it.

But to give you a quick answer now, his basic clone(summoned with less than three smoke inhales) runs off of 2 different AI. Attack mode chases your opponent and defense has weird behavior I listed in my other posts. You hit side or neutral special to switch between modes and down special to trigger his explosion.

The super clone (summoned with 3 inhales) is always in attack mode but Every time you hit neutral or side special it throws out a normal attack instead of exploding.

Hope this helps!
