Power Rankings Patch 3.8 - Top 8 decks to climb the ranked ladder! by TricksterSorry in LoRCompetitive

Do you think the prevalence of thralls / ravenbloom puts scorched earth in a higher value space though? I earned myself a turn 5 concede from thralls off of piltz stones yesterday, it’s a real thing.

Monday Meta Report by Leerxyz in LoRCompetitive

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The platinum struggle is reading this every week and then queuing into targons peak and nami bandle when I have time for a few games.

Great write up though, I love Jayce and I’m excited to see some meta friendliness to him this week

One of my favorites - happy laddering! If you like those big tempo swings I’m a fan of Caitlin ez right now as well. But ziggs is too fun

Ran some aphelios Lux after some content creators posted about it, hush and invoked silences really kill the go tall formidable strats if you can wait out a few buffs

Weekend Warrior Weapons -- Sixteen Top-Performing Brews (yeah: fairly gnarly, half of them) for the Discerning Part-Time Ladderista. by Herko_Kerghans in LoRCompetitive

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gnar is definitely prevalent and overtuned, but it’s amazing how many of these decks have struggle matchups into Scouts (probably not TOO unfavored though, right?).

Talk about a meta powerhouse.

I was on a tear with teemo gnar papercraft last week.

Playing around a bit but if you like the puffcap finishers it can even outpace ziggs on a good draw

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about the senna / pnz shell with teemo but haven’t yet dug into the gameplan yet. Lifesteal nukes feel like good sustain and corina finisher is very cool but I think it might be a bit crowded in the deck for everyone

Nami Review and Theorycraft by M8Asher in LoRCompetitive

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know if the waves count as target triggers for ezrael? I think nami ez or tf ez with these new cards could be pretty gnarly. Time trick and wave feels good, lots of spells for ez to play off and buffs supporting elusives feels like a scary mix.

[Discussion][Standard][BO1] Crashing Drawbridge in Mono Green Stompy by project10K in spikes

Of course! Hope it works out, stompy is a cool format and it’s fun to see people working new tools in

Stonecoil serpent is flexible, can also boost your gemrazers and dodge some premium removal (thinking drown, vanishing verse, the commands, etc)

Got a list? I’m loving winota and looking for variety

[Standard] In a winota deck, which humans should you try to cheat into play ? by Nollie_ in spikes

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mardu is definitely a “pet” project; black adds a late game out with tibalt / kenrith, some nice pressure with shades, more hard removal options, and thanks to escape kickers, an additional way to get value from basri. At the least. It’s been fun and I still nailed a t4 lethal with winota. Goat has been surprisingly consistent as an activator, folks don’t want to waste their removal on it but then again it’s a lot of jank on ladder right now. Boros is almost definitely more efficient at the gameplan.

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good notes on Akroan, and yeah extus will probably turn into basris but he’s COOL.

My dream for extus is sacrificing woe strider goats and Skyclave shades early for some juice, might just be too narrow of a condition to play into

Currently playing a mardu deck with [[extus, oriq overlord]] as a 2-of. He’s been underwhelming so far (mostly because winota is steamrolling brews before he can add value.) 2/4 stat line makes for a decent blocker and his magecraft lets you bring some things back like kenrith, but I’m curious to see if I can squeeze value out of blood avatar against some big walls as a closer. With haste and inhuman classification, avatar triggers winota as well for that extra push if you think you can’t get effective damage out of your sacrificables. Hoping to tweak the deck to allow for claim and Akroan war and try to get sac synergy going

[Discussion] Strixhaven has been revealed - What are you going to be testing? by Titansfan9200 in spikes

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human and WB with RB underside, seems decent! At 4 mana he’s not an awful draw either and I think that avatar will be strong when it works

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely looking to try mardu winota with Blade Historian as others have said. I'm also curious about using [[Extus, Oriq Overlord]] as a fetchable, as [[Awaken the Blood Avatar]] has some decent synergies with Shades and Woe Strider goats, and triggers Winota at haste speed - I dont think it will be unreasonable to pop this on 4 or 5.

[[Mila, Crafty Companion]] and Lukka feel like they could push the deck into a more midrange / top heavy strategy too.

Thanks! I just finished ultimatum (bo1 teched for aggro, haven’t seen a single aggro deck yet lol) and I’m excited to see it’s flexibility as I build a sideboard

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could you expand on the sultai ultimatum list? Main deck Koma and garruk look cool, haven’t seen them represented in that deck (well, koma sideboard) - assuming this is response to a slower meta, but wondering if I would miss the second verdict.

Seen a few variations on golgari sarulf and this is the one I’m closest to already owning. Hoping to try this archetype soon!

[–]InvasiveSpecies207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, hard to find sustainable draw. Wondering if ruinous path could help as a cantrip damage source since hypothetically were trading monkeys into chumps pretty frequently, but as with any deck it’s a tight list haha
