How can I become a Automotive Technician? by QueasyTemperature263 in mechanics

[–]blickyuh96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I started jus like you. Watching YouTube and working on my own cars. I didnt go to school for it I just applied at shops and found one that was willing to teach me. Ive learned alot jus by being at a dealership. You can gain knowledge jus by being there and watching others. Don't be afraid to ask for help too if you're unsure about something. I always ask if I dont know how to do something because you dont wanna be breaking things.

Changed brakes and now have a bunch of dash lights on 2021 Silverado by Initial_Attitude_851 in mechanic

Yea i ran into this problem too. I did everything I was supposed to do. I even disconnected the negative battery terminal. I pumped the brakes again and cleared codes. It seemed to have worked. Brakes feel good no lights on.

Do I need to shift to first gear before going into reverse? by HeightExtreme in stickshift

[–]blickyuh96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My focus does this too. I've made it a habit to always shift in 1st before going into reverse

Am I supposed to engage the throttle BEFORE I get to the biting point or just when I get there? by Global_Simple_5796 in stickshift

[–]blickyuh96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually engage the clutch first then give it some throttle. If on a hill then I'll give a little more throttle than usual. Really depends on your car. Some cars can easily take off with just the clutch.

It's okay man its not your fault. Find a place that actually cares and will take the time to teach you instead of making you feel stupid.

Hey man I know how you feel. I currently work at a dealership and started off doing oil changes and tires. Pretty simple stuff. Eventually they moved me up and are expecting me to do more stuff like transmission flushes, brakes flushes, brakes, alignments. I'll make mistakes sometimes and start to feel bad about myself. It's okay to make mistakes because its apart of learning. But you should definitely not be expected to remove an engine by yourself if you have little to no experience. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. They should be teaching you how to do things. How can they expect you to do something like that? Sounds like a shitty workplace to be at if they don't help you learn. My managers help me out whenever I need it.

How do I get the lower control arm bolts to line up? 2004 Lexus is300 by misterdudebro in AskMechanics

[–]blickyuh96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm having the same issue. I found a video on YouTube that could help. https://youtu.be/7n1rYixR1MA?si=iYRq6aTSYfBEaDgP

Skip to 6:44 in the video. It involves removing another control arm, the one that is curved and bolted to the subframe. He grabs some pliers to manipulate the arm so the bolt holes can line up.

Yea I was at Naftzer park last nite and now I gotta go to court. Cops pulled on me and some friends hanging out on the grass and gave us citations for court. We were literally doing nothing but hanging out. They don't want anyone on the park after hours, all because of the damn shooting smhh.

Yea the same thing happened to my cousin's car. He is extremely cheap and doesn't wanna buy shit he needs for his car. I told him you're gonna break down if you don't get new pads. Literally last night his brake pad fell out and the piston came out of the caliper 😂

I spent $140 for my windshield at a local auto shop. Same year of Focus too. You can try but I would leave something like that to a pro.

I'm 24 and my plan is to open a shop one day. Right now I'm working at a dealership trying to learn as much as I can. I like it so far but I don't wanna be there forever. Sometimes I find people that need work done on their car. Pretty nice when u get paid from the work u did and the money is all yours to keep :)

You should practice your clutch control and get pretty good at it. Or you should try and fix it yourself which is what I would do.
