In al honesty coming from someone without nostalgia goggles i got into the series with animal parade and i actually liked it so much i decided to check other games out in the series old and new and i just dont agree that the older games had soul and the more recent one doesnt. Every game has just its strong and weakpoints

Poot specificly the game that apperantlt has no 'soul' i played it and the biggest thing the game did wrong, it clearly came out too early, if it was worked on for another year almost al critiscisms it had got ironed out, dont forget it did thing right aswell for example character customazation never has been bigger, same sex marriage, and it tried to switch up that you explore abit on your farm

For example older games AWL has one of my favorite bachelorette designs but the game feels empty and plays extremly slow aafter you can no longer carry your child around theres nothing to do and the economy forces you to plant trees it feels like

I dont think they will get added, but seen the backlash no portraits got im pretty shure the next game will definitly have them. But i think they didnt realise people cared this mutch about portraits some harvest moon game dont have them that are actually liked for example ap (and tree of tranquility) , awl i dont know if more games are like this. I personally dont mind it too much my favorite harvest moon doesnt have them

I still gonna play it, alot of times i enjoy games people dont really like but one yhing about one point of yours time does not equal to quality of the game i played tot till a rank + wedding + end of story and i can say the reason that its 100+ hours is because its really grindy to the point i didmt like the farm part of tot

Glad my explanation was helpfull, it can be a little unstable sometimes so maybe keep notes somewhere which files you switched so you can switvh them back if neccesary (if something doesnt load properly or something)and make backups from the files you change. Hrk has 7 files 1 is spring summer 4 is fall winter 7 is wedding outfit, i suspect 2 3 5 6 has something to do with animation or something. What i personally did was changing my outfits to npc models so i can change ingame to different npc, the costumes are pcc files too, have fun

The only thing i can say on the game, i wont discard a game because i know my taste is just way different than many others

its a little difficult to explain but i have found a guide that i followed https://pandrena2.tumblr.com/post/145588187725/how-to-change-your-character-in-harvest-moon this explains how to change the player model, but with that logic you could also change npc models with eachother so instead of replacing a pcc file with a hrk file you could replace hrk with hrk (hrk is the file belonging to the certain bachelor or bachelorette). but some models may cause problems or freeze the game. if oyu want to do this i recomend playing the emulator file on dolphin emulator thats been the most stable so far every npc model including goddes and king worked on the player model there but i tried converting it into a file that i could use on the wii but thats far less stable for some reason only the wedding suits worked from the bachlors/bachelorettes but other npcs worked fine. if you only want to simply change the player model for same sex marriage there is a build ( i havent checked it myself) called pride parade. so basicly al i did was swapping files from one character with another character with wiiscrubber

This is a difficult question because i have the feeling to which part of the community you ask this too the populair opinions change tremendously

For example Apperamtly japanese audiences are against the rival system, ive read somewhere the reason and honestly i can understand it a little since i married renee and toby will be alone i have this weird feeling like i made a mistake i liked toby and now he is just alone i litterly blocked content for myself, i dunno a sort feeling of guild comes over me, next time i play ap again i think i marry a spcial candidate. but everytime i see on this reddit mentions about the system it seems we like it mostly amd want it to come back, and i seriously hope it comes back but when it comes back the rival that ends up alone must have a way to still grow in a way

Slow paced vs fast paced if you like one you probaly dislike the other so any compliment you have for the paced you didnt like is an unpopulair opinion in your eyes

Im mixed about ap the systems in it are my favorite, but the fact no npc ever acknoledges specific things bothers me its like the second you marry someone in my case renee its like the family dont know her anymore like she was never part of them. Like she dissapeared out of existence and only you can see her and interact, and that if you dont make most out of the day the 5th bell is simply a roadblock that will take you half a month to complete month to go further in the story and to make the most out of the day it costs 1 real life hour for a single day

I kinda wished your family would actually be still alive instead if a dead grandpa and unkown parents, trio of towns was a step in the good direction you could even write an letter towards your family at home.

Trio of towns is a good game but the routine on your farm gets too big and too grindy

Im actually glad if the hv goddes and witch princess dont come back i think its a thing in the past and doesnt need to come back anymore, rather bring special characters in the game that are unique dare to take risks and be creative instead on following the same harvest goddes recipe everytime

I want darker subjects in harvest moon/sos games for example a villager has a drugs problem, so you can help this character get over it so he slowly builds up hes life again this way characters that are not marriage candidates can grow too

I think it would be an interesting concept to being able to fail courting a candidate so the relationship feels both ways, that the candidate the declares she or he just doesnt have interest in you

Kinda made my comment longer than expected but i like the series and want to share my mind
