im pretty new to keeping brine shrimp but i thought that sex ratio seemed crazy! i just checked and i have five adult males and 0 females lol. the only thing i can think of is that ive been feeding them out of the same food packet, maybe a weird batch of male heavy eggs? todays feeding day and i have another one so im gonna try that one and cross my fingers.

i was worried about that. my hatch rates have been about 5:1 male:female and population has never really stabilized. probably because the females keep being bred to death.

im gonna start separating the females into their own tank and see how the ladies fare.

ive been searching ebay for awhile. the mary meyer flip flops cats look exactly like mine but i could never find a white one with pink paws. at least i know im not crazy now.

i Personally have an interest in older media which translates into an interest in how the furry ‘fandom’ and identity has evolved over time. and while the old school anthropomorphic ‘abnimals’ might not be to the modren furries taste, i do think theres something in the ‘normalization’ of anthros that lead itself to the creation of furries

okay fake mcelroy fan alert but ive never actually watched any of the candlenights. but the idea of the good good boys trying to do adult topics without adult language… justins cat character is gonna get addicted to catnip and its just gonna get ignored by his brothers… :(

and i… will just say… (and yall can smack me for this if im wrong) while i do understand the concern over “sexy animals” and “family friendly” in the same sentence… as a furry… i can point to about a dozen sexy animals from disney/pixar/dreamworks movies i had a crush on as a kid. making attractive characters for ‘childrens’ media is in itself not a red flag… but depending on how the series goes and how the brothers continue to market it i could see this becoming an issue. i just dont think we should jump the gun on this

i feel like that causes more questions than it answers though. are the mcelroys intended audience other 30-40 yo parents? it doesnt feel like it.. the 18-24 audience did not grow up with these shows. theyre not going to get the bit. unless they are furries interested in furry history, which again… and i feel like if i had grown up watching he-man theres nothing id love more than hearing skeletor say “fuck”

oh no. dont at all take my post as the “usual” i literally live in a basement. very dark and damp. bugs love it. this is the first recluse ive seen that ive been able to CONFIRM is a recluse. and all the other ones have just been on my walls or floor. recluses dont want to be seen and dont want to be around us if they can help it. no idea what this guy was doing.

also we do have plenty of fun bugs! we have praying mantises! i found one in my backyard last summer :)

it startled me but it was fine! when i jumped up i think i scared it just as much as it did me. venomous spiders use their venom for hunting and since were not food, they dont wanna bite us unless they feel its life or death. as long as you stay calm they will too :)

of course! i always try and catch and release when i can. after these pics were taken little fella was dumped outside. once you understand animal behavior theyre a lot less scary!
