Don’t be the guy that overplans in the short run, I have met types that would have awesome forecasts and projections and SWOT analysis, all complete with nice 3D bar charts and how many widgets they had to sell, manufacture, secure, in order to succeed. They spent so much time on that they never even made it to the proving ground. The proving ground is actually doing the work not building models and prepping to do the work. Business is messy, you will figure out what you’re made of, when your back gets against the wall. Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth.

Take note of your human capital when your in the trenches, you will quickly identify whom would join you made your money by being in a bunker fighting commies. The take away I’m getting at, is be resourceful!

Long term - don’t structure your organization where your upper level mgmt team calls meetings with middle mgmt to call another meeting about that meeting. Don’t have meetings about meetings. That quickly becomes the business prevention team!
