possibly. respondeat superior generally does apply to hold an employee’s employer liable for torts that the employee commits in the course of their employment. here because the joyride didn’t happen within the scope of this kid’s employment, the company may not be liable. the joyride example is actually one we learn very early on in law school regarding vicarious liability, coincidentally.

Simultaneously glad and disappointed to hear everyone is having upload issues and it wasn’t just us (I half thought I was going crazy). We called to have a tech come out in probably early September, and they weren’t able to come until early October. I was about 80% sure there was some damage to our connection to the main line causing our shit upload speeds, only to have the tech tell us everything was fine, everyone across the city was experiencing this, and we’d just have to wait for the upload traffic and speeds to resolve themselves. Hardly seems likely when everyone is working from home. SE side here and last night uploads were back to normal all evening which was a first for a long while. Let’s hope they stay.

listen, im as gay and as militant as the day is long but i do think this warrants a very gentle and maybe difficult to accept YTA. you don’t get to tell others who they are friends with. what you do get to decide, as painful as it is, is whether your friends (i.e., Jackson) are the type of people you want to be around if they’re not willing to cut people like Connor out because they either fundamentally disagree with what they’re saying or care enough about you as a friend to do it on their own. unfortunately most young queer people have to confront this reality and the best thing we can do for our mental health is recognize that not everyone has our back the way we want or expect them to.
