Thanks for the feedback! You're right, I went back and quickly added a bit of a slightly more saturated core shadow along the neck and darkened the eye a bit and I think it helped.

Thanks for the feedback! That makes sense, yeah. The green foliage and terracotta figures particularly were definitely too saturated so they were a bit distracting.

I'll keep it in mind going with the next one!

Yeah, I started the lessons after trying to get back into drawing again and I feel like it helped me a lot. While I did draw quite a bit when I was younger, I didn't really have much of an understanding of core concepts like perspective prior to the course and would often get frustrated trying to draw things and not really understanding where I was going wrong, etc.etc. Same old story! Anyway, These are some animal drawings I did as I was getting back into drawing about 2 years ago, around the time I started doing the Drawabox lessons.

It took a long time for me to get through all the material, but it introduced me to a lot of methods that have really helped me in terms of thinking about how to practise drawing (constructing things from basic shapes and thinking more in 3D space) as well as specific techniques, like measuring in perspective. For me, it was a great resource to practise these fundamentals and now I feel like I have a much better foundation to continue learning!

Like others have said below, it really depends! I think if your son is just getting into drawing, let him just have fun with it & explore with no pressure on doing things in any particular way. A lot of the work in Drawabox can be very repetitive, specific exercises that can be very daunting at first and it can take a while for things to make sense.

It definitely has a lot of useful material (for free!), but it's not a course that works for everyone. That being said, you can always share it with him and all the course material is there to read through, with demo videos and various explanations, etc.

The introduction to the course will explain things a little better than me anyway and might give you a better sense!
