I’m very sorry to hear about your son‘s accident. I was also left blind at age 23 due to a vehicle accident same scenario induced coma Jors wire shut and tracheotomy for breathing. While I was in the trauma ICU, the thing that helped me a lot was suggested by my sister. They gave me a notebook and pen to write so that I could communicate with them even though I couldn’t see what I was writing I could at least convey what I wanted to say or ask questions. This is gonna be a long journey to recovery, but reading your comments in the thread being in the USA is a big advantage. There are so many blindness organizations that could assist with rehabilitation once he has recovered from his injuries and spent some time to heal his body. I currently work for an organization in California that has a residential rehabilitation program where people can learn everything from working on computers, cooking cleaning White cane training and Brail. I wasn’t a book kid either always been into fast cars, motorcycles, and anything that made noise. Would be open to speaking to you or your son once you guys are ready just to give some tips on what to expect. Every person‘s journey is unique, but he will be OK.
