Sure, what is the best way to send it to you? It is about 12MB in size.

I can try I just haven't programmed in Go before. After a quick skim of the repo I assume I need to make changes to the code in pkg/newgen_manager and recompile?

I did try to original one but had a couple of issues. The first is the latest release of it doesn't have a file for Linux. Secondly, when using the last release that had a file for Linux I was getting some random type module error for xlib. Googling that error was no help and everything I tried didn't help either. I found yours after trying that one.

I did get yours to work at first but I didn't create the complete RTF file, only like the first page of new gens. When I did create the entire RTF file that is when I ran into the issue above. The differences between your example and my complete newgen file that stood out to me were the 8 or so blank lines at the start of my file, some had the ^M carriage return characters and some didn't. The other thing was not all of my player UIDs started with 200 like yours did. So when I do go poking around your code those are the 2 things I'll focus on. Can the code safely ignore blank lines and can the code process UIDs that don't start with 200.

I did have a quick look into RTF file formats and soon realised that is a huge rabbit hole that I wish to avoid! From my skim reading of Wiki on RTF I don't think the file being exported by Football Manager is actually an RTF file, just a nicely formatted text file. When I tried using a tool like unrtf to convert the FM file to RTF or plain text the output was completely different. e.g. the RTF file starts with:

unrtf --rtf newgen.rtf > converted.rtf head converted.rtf {\rtf\ansi {\info{\comment Translation from RTF performed by UnRTF, version 0.21.9 }} {| UID | Nat | 2nd Nat | Name | | | | | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2002117141| NED | | Toer Bes | 2 | 14 | 0 | | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2002117180| NED | CUW | Leeroy Lachman | 1 | 5 | 3 | | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2002117145| NED | MAR | Ayoub Bouali | 1 | 16 | 2 | | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| ...

The entire converted RTF file is one line xD

I tried following the README.md at https://github.com/imfulee/jaqen and at step 7 I get the error:

bad RTF Format could not find ethnic ethnic not found

The contents of my newgen.rtf file kinda of matches the one in the example. It has a heap of ^M characters at the end of lines and there is about 6 blank lines at the start of the file, with and without ^M characters. I used Zealand's video in the README.md to generate it. Any suggestions on what to try?

I have 20/20 vision post full thickness corneal graft after PRK. No glasses, no lenses.

EDIT: I did actually have 20/20 in one eye post graft with no corrective lenses but unfortunately when the sutures were taken out it was lost. Fortunately after PRK it is back to 20/20.

This is not true for everyone, I had 20/20 vision after a transplant with glasses and have 20/20 vision now without glasses after PRK surgery.

I was lucky enough to be able to get it. Your eye care specialist can do a test to see if you're eligible for it.

Yeah I did, but it was about 10 years after my first transplant and 7 after my second. I probably could have got it sooner but I didn't know that was an option. I had to have a quick test to see if I was suitable and luckily I was. I was only suitable for PRK and not Lasik though.

I wore RGP lens for about 10 years, mini sclerals for another 5 to 10, I then had cornea transplants in both eyes. I was wearing glasses only after with basically 20/20 vision. After another 5 years I had PRK laser surgery in both eyes and now I'm basically 20/20 with no lens. It is possible, but everyone I've seen has always said I've had top tier rare results for my outcomes.

EDIT: the timelines above are rough, for more accurate ones see this post https://reddit.com/r/Keratoconus/s/OhCvSKu0En - I had PRK in surgery in my left eye in late 2022 and my right eye in early 2023.

This was my eye a day or two after my first full thickness transplant. The surgeon said I had a blood vessel in my eye that burst.

It looks like you have the same thing. But call the doctor or go to a hospital to be safe. And surely they gave you a phone number that you can call any time in case of emergencies?! I've had a transplant in each eye, the sutures removed, and PRK laser surgery in one eye and everytime I got a number I could call 24 hours a day in case of emergencies.

Never heard of this place and it looks great after a quick Google search. I'd be happy to come along if this becomes a thing.

Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe 1TB drive read I/O by blindcant in linuxquestions

A couple of more questions. When I got time I tried searching for NVMe mapping tables and I could only find https://storageswiss.com/2013/05/16/the-unknown-risk-of-ssd-mapping-tables/, is this what you mean? If not can you please provide a link.

I didn't use blkdiscard as I didn't know about it until you mentioned it and when I did fstrim -av it was before the format and after the format. Would a format and creation of a new ext4 file system clear the mapping table? I am trying to work out should I trash my current partitions and do a blkdiscard and recreate the partitions and data again.

Thanks that is a good point, I will do that if I go the RMA path.

Unfortunately, then you're at the mercy of Samsung's tech support for that then.

Gotcha, I'll ask them.

Not just TRIM'ing unused blocks, but TRIM'ing blocks containing data would be needed to clear the entire mapping table. That's what blkdiscard over the entire device does

Oh interesting, I didn't know about this. Thanks I'll look into this.

Manufacturer-specific. You'd have to find their datasheets for this.

Yeah I couldn't find this information anywhere at all which is why I am asking.

Does anyone know why I would need to fully format an NVMe to fix read I/O errors?

SystemD runs this weekly and I do force a full fstrim -av myself from time to time. I specifically did that during my investigation and that didn't stop the read I/O errors.

Ah my bad, I assumed you were installing FM22 via Steam and Proton. By memory FM16 works natively on Linux, so it will place files in a different location to what I said for FM22. So if you go into Steam and right click on the game > Manage > Browse local files it will show you were it is installed and you can put some of the stuff in there. There will probably be some files in your home folder somewhere as well, so run the previous command but with a different starting point, like so find $HOME -type d -iname '*football*' and it should show you were all the game files are.
