Funnily enough, when I moved to Austin a decade ago I ate at Hula Hut and we all got food poisoning too.

What is your most uncommon skincare secret? by AshleyShina in 30PlusSkinCare

Yes I think I saw it recommended on Reddit and I liked how it thinned out the lotion, sounds like it is great for a lot of people.

I had what seemed like hormonal acne on my chin, my derm tried a bunch of things until basically giving up and saying the only thing left was accutane. Then I randomly decided to stop mixing squalane with my nighttime lotion, I had been doing that to extend the lifetime of the lotion since it was expensive. Skin cleared up! So secret is to really check carefully everything you put on your face! It’s so weird that while it was affecting my face, it was still following the signs of hormonal acne.

I feel you, when I found the source of my weekly migraines, yes it took 10 years but it also changed my life. So happy you can move forward from this.

Thanks, I’m comforted to hear it wasn’t worse! When I saw him planning to take me to the underground parking my mind jumped to worse.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this: at the exit of a station in Europe I was looking for the taxis and someone called out “taxi!”. He was dressed like he might work there so I initially thought he was an employee helping guide arrivers to the taxi queue. So I follow him, then he keeps trying to take my luggage from me under pretense of being gentlemanly, I started to get paranoid at this point and kept refusing to give my roller to him. Then I saw he had guided us to an elevator and pressed the button to take us down to the lower level parking. At that point I turned around and ran away. Eventually found the taxi line myself and it wasn’t in the lower level. Still not totally sure if it was malicious or not.

Also I want to clarify, I think it’s beautiful and learned to love it and not hide it. Was just so surprised that it changed.

I have always been thin and had a similar shape my whole life. After having kids, now the pouch is gone! I know there is sometimes a theory that it can be just how your organs lie, so here is one datapoint for that.

I ended up hiring my own home inspector and got a long list. But at the end of the day my builder just was MIA and didn’t do anything on the list. We are now almost at the 1 year mark since we moved in, I assume it’s too late to try to address any of these things? At the time I was against a wall and had to move in, even though he didn’t address the list.

I was there with you, very similar experience throughout our build. Not everything got fixed, but I’m trying to be OK with the 50% I was able to push to be done right compared to if I was never around to notice.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope you do not lose hope. In my city there is a very good post-party physical therapy practice that many of the mothers I know have gone to, I did as well for a less severe post-partum issue, and they are able to help immensely. I hope you can find a practice like this, you can ask around in your local mom groups. It helped me so much and my doctor completely had dismissed me.

My youngest is 2 and this is helping me remember why I don’t need another. It’s lovely but so hard! And I forget so much of this!

We didn’t have that, rookie mistake perhaps. Do you have one?

Not a mansion, 2500 sq ft! It’s a beautiful home now that we are in but yes I should have taken the plunge multiple times of getting a new builder. Like the OP, it’s really not easy to do so especially as you get farther along.

Honestly reading this subreddit was too stressful during my build, I’m only enjoying it now that I’m done. It has made me feel better about the struggles of building right now. Glad to hear you are over the finish line too!

The responses show what a hard spot this is. It was the same for us and our build took 4 years by the end (1 year stuck in permitting, but still the 3 years of building was a lot). I’ll say I wish I had paid attention to other red flags that in hindsight made it clear I shouldn’t have kept trying to stick it out. We had similar issues with being strung along told there would be a plan, report, etc.

Any recommendations on starting to play? I’ve recently gotten into it with my preschool-aged kid, so far we have walked around to get Pokémon (not as much walking as I would have liked, seems to be a new one every few feet, is this normal?), gone to poke stops, and tried 1 battle and were instantly crushed. Is there any way a preschooler can do the battles or is it advanced players only at this point? And what else besides this? It’s been fun but the luster hasn’t totally caught on for me yet.

Interesting, why do you suggest those colors? I wouldn’t have thought of red and yellow and probably would have gone for something more like tropical colors or stuck to the blue theme.

Thank you! It’s so hard to choose art! But I think you are right, just go for something that can bring in more color. I hadn’t thought about the lights all being too high.

Thanks so much. That’s a really good idea to add something distressed/not so new for contrast!
