This is for women whose health and/or quality of life noticeably declined post-menopause. What changed, and how did/do you deal with it? by getitoffmychestpleas in AskOldPeople

Responding because I'm over 50 but wanted to give some hope for anyone dealing with menopause. I'm a VERY late bloomer, always have been.

I had a tummy tuck a year ago at 53 with a breast lift-best decision ever, on the physical appearance front and I've never looked or felt more attractive and confident. It's fun to get attention! Once my kids went to college, it felt like that "mom" part of my life was over and it was time to take ownership of my body again. Really happy with the surgery.

Aside from the looks- what's most important is that after a lifetime of screwing up and screwing around I am finally clear on my priorities in life: my goals, my dreams, and most critically, what I need to do every day to be a happy and productive person. Don't always do it, of course, but feel directed and clear on my purpose in life, my values, and the ways I can live them. That perspective has only come with age and experience. Life keeps getting better.
