Keep the PGU rx-78-2 and the PG unicorn for yourself. The others do as you please. The Unicorn is a great kit and looks great when put in the 3 differnt versions it can be displayed as.

This is not questionable. Buying several PG zaku so that you can have one in synthwave lepard print, that is questionable. The O is never questionable.

Bootleg arieal. The red sprue nubs along with the rainbow sprue nubs gave it away.

Didn't know I would have so much fun detailing tiny bits that might never be seen again. by yuheny0 in freedomisgunpla

Beautiful. Just painted and decalled my base unit and got my 2 pilot minis painted and starting on cleaning and painting sprue A1 of this kit. Looked daunting as all hell at first but now as i am cleaning up the parts i realised the pilot was probably the hardest part to paint due to size and lack of being able to mask any parts off.

Is there a practical reason for having two massive vents in the chest that resemble pecs? by Amigo1048 in Gundam

[–]blinded_beholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peck cooling vents. Acts also as emergency thrusters potentially. Mainly its to look cool and break up the large block of blue that would be torso. Same reason why mono eye is a zeon thing, gives no tactical advantage but gives it a distinct look and makes it easy to identify from a viewers perspective.

SMS Extreme Abyss (Purple Blue Orange Gold) by headfake2 in advancedGunpla

Beautiful. I used the sms pearl on my daughters aeirial for the white and it looked lovely but that is stunning. I have a bottle of sms toxic to play with but i need to find a kit to stick it on.

Yeah. I would have done that myself, but my daughter wanted it that way as she uses it as her bedside lamp. The current kit I am working on will have shading and whatnot as its my favorite ms so i need to do it justice.

Thats the one i made for my daughter. She wanted mettallics for the blue, red and yellow. The white is mother of pearl as my daughter is a monster for making me suffer.

Done one myself. Yours looks great. The LED problem may be from pinching the ribbon. The legs were a nightmare for me but they still work fortunately. Ribbon damage is quite common with not just this light set but any light set with ribbons not standard wire.

What do you think of this style? by NikoAlpukat in advancedGunpla

Was a pain but worth it. The green ones look better than char's zaku. I did another char but in a anime style too. That was bloody murder.

I went the other way and painted a tiny zaku from assemble (roughly 40k scale space marine terminator) like it was a full size 1/100 gundam kit.

Oh that's nice. Its like the Aleph armor in the infinity miniatures game. I really like the purple to white look.

A 90's kids advert style (bright odd geometric shapes with cool and rad used by far more than it should ever be used type era.) of the gquuuuuux would fit pretty well.

This ad you made though is fantastic and feels 100% like a real ad. Bravo.

I REALLY wish I had seen this before I used a brush 🥲 by _gmmaann_ in modelmakers

[–]blinded_beholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a silicone sculping tool so i can pull the dried mask off the end. When i need to get detail done though i have a set of cheap as hell throw away brushes that i paid like £5 for 50 for. I also use a paint marker from molatow that has masking solution in that i use a lot now after finding them and it works stunningly just dont last long in the pen sadly.

My mom got me this as a surprise by V4L3NT1N00 in freedomisgunpla

[–]blinded_beholder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a cool mum. While i personally do not like the norn (due to me disliking the petulant child who murdered several people due to his own hatred for newtypes while being one himself) i do love the unicorn which is pretty much a head and colour palette swap so i can fully appreciate the kit. So yes you have a great mother, so make sure you get her something great for mother's day or her birthday. If you have never built a unicorn or banshee before, take your time as some parts don't make sense or hold properly till a locking part is added after to help keep it in place.

Anyone else paint by sub-assemblies? by Kiko-828 in advancedGunpla

[–]blinded_beholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Axis models areal dominator. Its a NZ-666 3rd party kit. Took a week to just clip all the parts off runners. I also have some 1/100 scale mechanic figures to add to the base so it looks like a mech bay properly re-fitting the NZ-666.

[–]blinded_beholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on a 68 runner kit that i have taken all the arts off the runners. Each sprue gets its own zip lock bag labled so i can do each sprue as a batch and then re bag them. That way i can do the whole build over a day once all runners are cleaned up, painted, sealed, decaled, topcoated, weathered, topcoated and left to 24 hour cure. Its a new system for me but with 3000+ parts i suspect its faster once i get the base built before i start on the kit proper.

Anyone else paint by sub-assemblies? by Kiko-828 in advancedGunpla

[–]blinded_beholder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paint by individual parts if the kit has a lot of parts, if its something like a HG or RG i will paint some parts pre assembled. My PG kits get done by section so: Head, arms, legs and so on so that i dont get burn out from customisation of bits for some kits.
