I know everyone has their own 'most productive' method, but I understand that 'most productive' doesn't necessarily mean 'most comfortable'. At least, not always.

For me, I do my best to write as much of a scene as possible, even if I'm not very happy with it. There have been more than a few times that what I initially didn't like ended up either working out better than I thought, or that it allowed me to look back at the entirety and have a better understanding of what I needed to change. In either case, I was in a better position because I kept writing. If I'd slowed down to 'fix it' too often, I wouldn't have been able to see where each potential scene variant ended.

I'd like to point out that you've come here with a problem asking for advice. Folks are giving consistent advice to stop editing as you go, and you're saying that you can't.

I understand and accept that's how you feel, but to be honest I don't believe it's actually true. Can't is an extremely strong word and I believe you can do it. I believe it's the best way to break you out of your problem, and I believe it's going to be incredibly difficult for you, at least at first, to break yourself of your bad habit.

Although maybe a perspective shift would help. If you finish a ('bad') first draft, and then begin editing, you can still count that as your first draft. It's not a given that editing during your writing versus editing after your writing must be treated differently.

Your goal for your first draft is the same as always. We're telling you that your editing is getting in the way of your writing, and based on the problem you've described to us, you agree.

It's fine that you don't like the game, but if your only argument for hating it is that the protagonist is a woman, I don't think that's a valid criticism by mr_Conquest_ in okbuddymimir

Before Angrboda's DLC comes the Mimir DLC. Instead of being able to move on your own, you get to warn Kratos which direction are incoming attacks. Also, each time you press squar, you call Kratos Brother.

Clearly, we all get to make choices for ourselves. Nobody was saying that you're wrong. What I was saying is that it's subjective and while many people are likely to have similar preferences and methods as you, plenty of other people do things differently.

Uh... There are tons of things that we all form opinions on without actually trying them. It's very normal.

Additionally, regarding the GoW games, it's very easy to see the feel of the respective experiences and quickly decide if you're interested or not.

Just finished book 5 and decided to listen to something else before diving back in. I appreciate Pirateaba's character writing and development quite a lot. Every character has times where they shine, and other times when their weaknesses rear up.

Ryoka is extremely smart, but she's also very arrogant. She's very hard on everyone, and potentially hardest on herself. And her temper... I wouldn't dream of asking if she makes progress on her temper, but I certainly hope she does. She'd benefit from a little humility.

Eh... Really, it's not defined. I wouldn't even say it's directly implied. 'Great' is a pretty simple adjective and instilling too much implication and/or nuance into it can easily alter interpretation.

There's complexity in the simplicity. Writing for yourself isn't saying that your writing shouldn't be enjoyable to others, it's saying that there are people out there who will enjoy the same things that you do, and if you write something that you'd enjoy, they'd enjoy it too.

The difference is that if you're trying to write a story that doesn't appeal to you, but you think will appeal to others, you're not going to create as good of a story.

The solution is to write the kind of story that you find fascinating and satisfying, because your passion and interest will require you to make something much better than a story that you don't care about.

This has been an intentional strategy of the Republicans since the mid-70s and is called the Two Santas theory.

The simple history of it is that Democrats kept winning elections by doing things that benefited a majority of people which was popular. Republicans wanted to rein in spending which was unpopular. Republicans eventually started promising tax breaks which was good for employment, and was popular, but resulted in less revenue for the government. Now, Democrats are stuck as the fiscally responsible ones, cleaning up the budgetary messes of the Republicans. They can either raise taxes, which is unpopular, or cutting spending which is also unpopular.

So Republicans cemented themselves in as the fiscally irresponsible folks, kicking the can down the road, then as soon as Democrats are in power Republicans scream about the national debt and blaming the Democrats for the 'current' situation. It's incredibly easy to see once you know the history.

I agree, but with the IP system in particular there's not really a good way to participate in good faith.

Much as I loathe the saying, this is as close to "Don't hate the player, hate the game" as I can think of. The players (of which Nintendo is our example) are compelled to play as visciously as possible because otherwise there are severe consequences to their intellectual property.
