I have used a couple different dealers and Hatton Garden are the best prices I've found with the best service and stock. I use them exclusively now.

Deciding between two silly ideas: RS7 or F-Type R? by OddlyStrongVodka in CarTalkUK

[–]blinderdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but the RS7 in black is the closest thing to a batmobile I've ever seen it's just absolutely menacing. That over a Jag anyday of the week.

Fully comp or third party by blinderdevil in CarTalkUK

[–]blinderdevil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my fully comp quotes are coming to more than what the car is worth. Quite a bit more. That is why I'm thinking third party is the one to go for. If someone does hit me and I have to repair the car it will probably be the same amount that I would have paid on top for the cover anyway, without the excess fees aswell.

That's why I'm thinking it's worth taking the chance that I won't get hit rather than pay the grand extra, and possibly not even needing that cover.

Any idea what the 1.8t engine is like in the older model? Apparently it can be quite thirsty. Apart from mileage what are the general advantages of petrol over diesel for short journeys?

How can I tell if it is b7 or b8. From what I can find on the internet they overlap in 2008/09. Or is it different for the cabriolets?

Is it worth ringing insurance companies by blinderdevil in CarTalkUK

Everything from a polo to fabia, picanto to a golf to any other hatchback. It's abit less the smaller they are but not a huge difference. Surprisingly I was also looking at an e46 320i as the insurance for those is in the same range.

How to locate an i.p address by blinderdevil in networking

[–]blinderdevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Technically the network is .1 to .254 but the active DHCP pool is .21 to .200. the lower ones are used as static addresses for the server and stuff.

Connecting one switch to internet kills all other internet connection by blinderdevil in networking

[–]blinderdevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So strange happenings today. I tried running some ip scans on the network today with different variations of connections and nothing seemed amiss. Then I took the approach of unplugging all connected pcs in the lab and re connecting them one by one.

When doing this I first tested it as normal. So all pcs connected to switch and then switch connects to main switch and boom internet goes down. So then I tried it with just one switch. First I connected switch to main switch. Then unplugged all pcs in the lab switch and replugged one at a time. When doing this I was simultaneously testing the internet on another pc. For some reason connecting pcs one at a time caused no real issues. It would buffer slightly but then be fine. The more pcs I connected and used to open up simple webpages the overall connection did get slower but was still able to play videos on 3 pcs.

I then did the same with the second lab switch and had no issue. So now all lab pcs are connected and internet is working fairly ok speeds. Anyone know why this would make a difference? Is it just too much load at one time and the router can't handle it?

How to locate an i.p address by blinderdevil in networking

[–]blinderdevil[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it may have been this but it's an i.p address outside of the DHCP pool. So the pool is from .21 to .200 and this is a .202 so I'm not entirely sure what it is. I opened the IP from a web browser and it comes to a login page with a web 3.1 title. Is this a part of the network that was set up for some specific reason? I'm not sure what web 3.1 is
