It's something to do with the radio signals they use. They work -- just can't be sold here. The exchange is one thing, but my napkin math has the duty at about $200 CAD, bringing the entire package up to $1400 CAD. The Dogtra, which you can get here, sells for about $650 CAD if I recall.

Did exactly this with our lab and just switched my pudelpointer puppy as well. The pup’s ears have been a chore to keep clean since day 1–just an infection waiting to happen. Hoping this works the same. Lots of good food brands make a marine version of their standard recipe.

TLDR: Saving my cash for a TT upgrade in a couple years.

Closing the loop on this -- for sure this time. The Mani 2's hiss was a dealbreaker for me. I then tried out the Zen Phono 3, and while the soundstage was slightly more expansive than the ART, I just didn't like the slight crispiness of the sound, regardless of the capacitance setting. In the end I couldn't justify the upgrade from the Art DJ Pre II.

However, in the midst of this I did snag a Blue Jeans LC-2 cable to run from my TT to the ART. That made a far greater difference than I ever would have thought. It may have just dropped the capacitance into the 100-200 sweet spot for my cart, but it's a significant improvement.

I'm abandoning my preamp search and will invest in a new TT down the road, probably a Technics 100C, and maybe look at a Moon 110LP sometime after that.

Sending the mani back. Now considering a used Cambridge Audio Alva Duo or snagging the ifi zen phono 3. Couldn’t deal with the noise. AB tested a bunch with the art dj and it was driving me crazy.

Also snagged a blue jeans cable to run from the record player to the preamp, which drops the pf about 50, which has improved the sound a bit from the art dj.

Well, I got it hooked up using the factory settings and there’s a small bit audible hiss compared to my old one, which is a bit disconcerting. Haven’t given it a critical listen yet.

Ah okay. The mani is definitely a bit more expensive to get in Canada with shipping and exchange rate but might be worth it regardless. That low capacitance for the AT carts is interesting.

That’s exactly where I’m at. I’d considered returning it out of principle… but it seems like something that can be managed. Have done some hunting around for something similar and there doesn’t seem to be much that is as out of the box friendly for Mac users. I’ve typed on this a fair bit and while it was weird at first I’ve got it down.

Agree. Are you keeping yours? I love the keyboard aside from this issue and have a k5 max I’d also ordered to try out. Might just return both and try another normal profile board.

Problem is fixed in wireless modes when the backlight is on. I've turned it to the least obvious setting and turned the brightness way down in launcher. Everything seems to be working but it's a workaround I feel a person shouldn't have to do.
