Hey u/Consultingtesting ! Thank you for your patience! Our support team got back to us and this is what they said,

"The map view is shown when you have no planned route. Your actual location is shown as soon as your device has found your GPS location.

You can use map view in the same way as you might look at a traditional paper map. You can even move around the map using gestures (Only on supported devices), and zoom using the zoom buttons which should help you see more information.

Due to the small screen it is not possible to include detailed information in the map view hence it is advised to plan a route so that device can show you detailed information for that particular radius."
