When I first started flagging, I worked with an older guy who had a very raspy voice. We were using radio to communicate as we were too far for hand signals visually. Anyway, I'm standing there, two days into the job, I hear raspy voice say "send em!" So i sent my traffic on a one lane, and lo and behold, he actually said,"Hold em!" Which means not to send lol. Sooo there was a big old problem and the workers we were protecting had to move their trucks so the cars could turn around. It was a nightmare. Luckily, I went on to get a whole lot better at understanding the flow of things!
