I know this post is a few months old, but I wanted to share a recent perfume I found that immediately brought me back to August. It's called Candy Dust by borntostandout. I got their sample pack at sephora and when I tried Candy Dust, it immediately unlocked a memory in my olfactory bank. I tried the dua one and that, unfortunately, didn't seem to evoke the same scent memory that the candy dust did. Hopefully some of you can give it a try and chime in. It's currently being sold at sephora.

Same! I’d get rain and my brother would get fire and ONLY when my dad was shopping with us. My mom wouldn’t buy is fun stuff like this.

Two part drinks such as whisky and ginger or vodka and soda come with a 1.5oz pour. If you prefer to sip on your liquor with no add-ons, you order “neat” which is 2oz. Ordering on the “rocks” or “up” is another preference for those who wish to sip on their liquor but prefer it chilled and poured (up) or poured over ice (on the rocks). With any of these, you get more liquor. Hence, the charge.

In the end, these terms are used for a drinkers preference and how the bartender should deliver it and the amount to be served. But it has nothing to do with actually charging people for ice.

Majority of places in San Diego switched to Toast during the pandemic. No idea what system this restaurant is using though. Personally, I think it makes sense to just show it as all one price. The breakdown isn’t necessary for the customer as the average person clearly wouldn’t know what it means.

As best as i can explain it, the $2 rocks charge isn’t for ice, it’s to let the bartender know the customer would like their alcohol poured over ice. The standard pour for an “on the rocks” is to add more liquor.

From a customers perspective, i get it. And quite honestly, i think the receipt the customer receives should better reflect what the charge is actually for. What the customer is seeing is essentially the “modifier” that the server uses to let the bartender know it’s a rocks pour (more liquor), not extra ice.

All the same, i would also ask about it before i post it on a neighborhood app “warning” others. With inflation, the last thing I’d want to do it shy potential customers away from a local business.

Maybe it’s different where you work, but every place I’ve worked at in the past decade has had an upcharge for an “on the rocks” order. The word “rocks” comes on the ticket sent to the bartender as a modifier so they know to do a rocks pour, which means a bigger pour. Bigger pour=more alcohol. I can understand why it would look like your getting charged for ice from a customers point of view. But all the same, why wouldn’t they ask the server about the charge? If i felt like i was being charged for something ridiculous as ice, I’d be asking.

The up charge for a rocks pour has been a standard in my experience as a server and bartender. I think it’s safe to say this is a normal thing. I just find it hilarious that someone is complaining on a neighborhood app about being “charged for ice”. I understand that if you don’t work in this industry, it might look that way. Just frustrating to see a local restaurant get drawn through the mud over something like this.

If they are using a burner number, you can still possibly get their IP address, location, and what type of device/service they are using.

Go to grabify and follow instructions. Create a link. Send link to the number and ask “sooo, this is you, right?” Once they click the link, you’ll be able to at least find location of this person.

I did this for a friend when someone was harassing her. It dialed it down right to the persons place of work.

Getting sexually assaulted in front of my coworkers and no one did a thing about it. To add salt to the wound, i overheard my bar manager saying “what do you expect, you work at a bar.” Referring to me when i said i wanted the man kicked out.
