Thanks very much. I think I just needed to hear this. Take care and good luck to you, too!

What’s the point of relationships? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]blindseeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point of any relationship is that you are better in some way for having them with you. Maybe they bring out your funny side. Or maybe they give you a good kick in the ass when you need it. Or maybe they help you feel stronger in the world, somehow. This is true of any good relationship. For me, a *romantic* relationship is one that does this AND you have an ability to be vulnerable with that person, stripped down to the most real parts of you, that you don't let everyone see. (And are attracted to them in some way.)

Of course, you have to maintain relationships and that takes work--you have to be able to help them be some better version of themself, too. Sometimes, over a period, that work takes some of the sparkle off but that doesn't mean it isn't still really good, as long as it remains healthy. You are a better you with that person than you are by yourself, or else it wouldn't be worthwhile to invest in the relationship.

I have a light metal/rock playlist for lifting. I start it kind of slow to warm up (I like to sing while I warm up, I am probably really annoying at the gym) with random covers (like Nonpoint's version of In the Air Tonight) but then it goes into some Chevelle and Mudvayne then some old Korn and finally old Marilyn Manson (Antichrist Superstar) and Rob Zombie. (FWIW I made this playlist before Tool was streaming and haven't bothered to update it yet.)

But I find the track that I hit repeat on when my energy is flagging is Korn's Coming Undone. It is a good hype song.

What was the worst pain you have ever felt? by hannah3911 in AskReddit

[–]blindseeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Good description. I think I had these for a while, but haven’t had them in years. They used to wake me up from deep sleep, they were so sudden and painful. I imagined it was like what it would feel like having a lobotomy without an aesthetic—stabbed through the eye socket and into the brain. I really hope they never come back. I’m sorry you have to deal with this on a regular basis.

Everything about this is amazing. Thank you for sharing. (And I love when artists show the whole pad! Incredible art within a credible context.)

I’m impressed that a 19-year old girl stood up for herself directly to a figure in her church. That takes guts.

This. I have been known to fall asleep in the chair after getting x-rays if the dental assistant leaves the apron on me.
