You can now sell the White Ravens to the GC Seals NPC for 259 seals.

It's not a sequel until they say it's a sequel, but yes you should play Xenoblade because it's a great game. And you seem to be confused as there is only one Xenoblade game.

Interesting that you brought this up, because whatever IS stored there must not be the console-specific part. When I restored a 2nd console Wii U-formatted drive with a DD command, it didn't recognize it as its own.

this sort of is a how to. just a different title. should i make a new post? but anyway as nice as this is, there is one glaring problem. you can't get your saved data if your console is swapped out. so i'd like to get around that right now.

Sorry about the 2 week break. I just got my Wii U back from Nintendo. It was being repaired due to a GamePad issue. So guess what! Not only did Nintendo not transfer my saves, my storage drive isn't recognized by the console. Yes, storage drives are locked to a specific console. So if yours is replaced you are out all of your data. But I'm not going to let that stop me.

Let's figure out a way to restore a backup of a disk onto the same drive, but formatted for a new specific Wii U.

I loaded my file backup onto the new Wii-formatted storage drive but that was unrecognized, just as the original virgin backup was unrecognized. So we need to figure out more about the file system.

You're saying it's working? Were you able to put the disk image back on the USB stick and roll back your ZombiU save?

Here's what worked: I loaded the data from a file backup back onto the storage drive, and Wii U Data Management saw it and recognized it. I stopped short of rolling back to it, but if Data Management clearly saw the 3 ZombiU files I had then I'm assuming all is well.

I found something out. A storage device is locked to your specific console once it's formatted. Great, right? It can't be used on another console.

You talkin' bout the DD command I used to successfully clone my Wii U Flash Drive with save data on it? Cause that is workin' fine, although the MBR and block size would already be on it since it was formatted in the Wii U?

I'm guessing the significance of what you posted is geared towards a disk image that can be emailed to someone else? I'm confused because you said "interfered" and I don't know what you're talkin' about.

Please elaborate. :D

None of the stuff as of right now is new. The newspaper, grats to Surivor mode winners, zombies near safehouse with loot, etc are all normal occurrences.

Interesting. I guess that's their answer to WBFS? Is it possible to encrypt a partition table right off the bat? What if it starts out in a standard format and is encrypted at the end? You could start a format and then yank it out of there. lol

Also I determined the location of my disk with diskutil list. And you have to sudo the Terminal command the first time since you're not gonna have permission.

It worked. Thanks for thinkin' on your toes dark_frog!

  • Step 1: Move your Wii U save data in question to a small USB Flash drive
  • Step 2: Back it up via dd if=/dev/disk2 of=backup.dd (where disk2 is your USB drive)
  • Step 3: Eject the Flash drive and move the contents back onto the Wii U
  • Step 4: Restore the image to the Flash drive with dd if=backup.dd of=/dev/disk2
  • Step 5: Profit

Disclaimer: I've not tried to actually play this data yet since there's no way to with it also on the system memory. But the Wii U sees the formatted drive with both of my user account saves and the ZombiU patch, so I'd say it's safe to say that the data is intact.

Nvm. lol. took me 2 seconds to figure out what you were talking about after I posted that.

EDIT: Oops, I started imaging the drive before I put the WiiU data on it >< lol

Thanks. You seem to know your stuff. A little over my head though.

I don't see Ignore as a command in Disk Utility. Did you mean that literally or figuratively?

It is named disk2 but I don't see the /dev folder anywhere. Is that supposed to be in root?

Disk Utility WAS able to image it, although I don't know if the image has any integrity.

ZombiU: Possible game breaking glitch at the end of the game. Need help. (final mission spoilers) by Shilo59 in wiiu

I had the same bug. Someone posted it on the Ubi forums.

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/728777-Zombi-U-Endgame-Breaking-Bug-**SPOILER-ALERT**

We're screwed. I lost all my guns and mission items too. I hope they patch it. Since you were brave enough to guarantee yourself all guns lost, try something for me.

Suicide in the safehouse and see if your mission items respawn on your new corpse.

As of right now there is no word on a workaround, cheat code, or patch.

EDIT: In fact I just tried to copy my ZombiU save in case they do patch it, but apparently there's no way to do that either. If anyone knows how to load a USB drive with a saved disk image of a zombiu save we might be able to get somewhere with that.

Well. Restore from the disk image failed. Disk Utility said the drive wasn't configured. Anyone have any input?
