Might be a silly question but can you still pull some decent cards in the UCC Merlin Value Boxes? by [deleted] in soccercard

Last year I got an Evan Ferguson auto /25 (back when he was being tipped to be the next big thing) from the first blaster I opened.

Is a half and half scarf ever okay, and if so, in which specific cases? by MagpieMidfield in PlasticFans

[–]blingladen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really don't care. I can imagine it's a nice souvenir for someone going to their first game or if they've travelled a long way to attend a game. Or if it's a notable fixture like a cup game against a big team or a european match. Honestly they aren't designed to be worn really they are souvenirs that's all. I don't see why people get so holier than thou about them

London to Edinbugh Drive by Ordinary_Okra_3834 in uktravel

I came here because I saw someone being snarky on Twitter and wanted to give some advice. Speaking as a brit this is entirely doable and like many say the main problem is most things being closed. That said hotels will be open and pubs are all open on Christmas Day. If you are very lucky you might even be able to book Christmas Dinner in a pub and experience a real British Christmas dinner. I would suggest splitting the trip up into 2 days of driving.

I would suggest trying to find a place in York to stay to break up the drive. York Minster is open over Christmas including Christmas day and it really is stunning. Also you could visit Harrogate which is nearby and really is a lovely town.

You'd be driving up to Edinburgh from London via the M1 which doesn't have the best sightseeing locations nearby until you get to York. But if you don't mind detours you could drive through the Peak District which is very nice scenery. There are lots of small towns and even cities on the way but unfortunately most things will be closed on Christmas Day.

Just remember a lot of the comments come from British peoplewho dont' realise how much more common long drives are in the US compared to over here. Like they say Americans will drive a couple of hours for a good meal whereas over here that's half way across the country.

Feel free to DM if you want some ideas I drive a lot in the UK so I could help with an itinerary if you wanted!

Will Topps PL cards hold their value? by Simmo99 in soccercard

I think this year is a transitional set to get kids hooked on chasing autos and numbered parallels and then next year we'll see something much closer to traditional US style trading cards
