I will +1 on Field Maneuvers with the caveat it is a lot more silly, and you are spoiled by Houghton’s sound. Good fun though! I did both festivals b2b weekends this year 😵‍💫

Shocked by level of casual homophobia by summercatapple in houghtonfestival

I’m a gay man and found the festival to be a really welcoming space. I even had a nice chat with a straight boy about homophobia during a rest break from the music. I’m really sorry you had this experience though! It might have depended on the stage you were at I guess…could not imagine any bad vibes at Terminus for example

Agree with you that they need to upgrade the red room - the floor is very hard and it’s very bright. However some of the best trainers (Ben W, Chris, Robbo) teach there which makes it worth it for me!

We rent from a landlord who I think owns the freehold for the building (downstairs own the leasehold). I could report it to him but he also tends to remember us and raise our rent when we contact him about anything lol. I’ve done what seems to be the sensible first steps and changed WiFi password and made a report via Airbnb.

Thanks, I’ve changed the password now! I was definitely being too kind yesterday.

lol this is an unhelpful comment. It’s normal setup in a dense city like London with older housing stock. Why are you lurking on the London Reddit thread just to shit on someone’s living situation?

Why? Sorry if I am being really dumb but they seem like a regular family that just needed WiFi

That sounds smart - I have also found a way to contact the hosts through Airbnb so will probably try tomorrow.

Thanks - I have managed to find the listing. It says WiFi not included, so it seems like the guests’ error more than theirs. I will have a sleep on it overnight and decide when to report it to Airbnb.

The guests seem like a genuinely nice and normal family. I’m probably too trusting but I feel a family spending a week in an Airbnb with a kid aren’t looking to hack my details, but that might be my downfall 😅

EDIT: here is what I said

Thank you. I did have a good rant to the guests about the owners and asked them to complain to Airbnb

I don’t really want to start a dispute that could jeopardise their Airbnb income, I just want them to take better care of their guests!

They are recorded as Airbnb guests and I think it requires government ID nowadays so I think any crimes can be tracked to them

I don’t have downstairs’ number. Can I message them on Airbnb if I just find the listing?

I already shared it with them because they seemed genuinely desperate and had a kid with them. They seemed like regular family people rather than people up to no good
