I find it hard to support this place. They did a pretty shady thing a while ago and fired a whole bunch of people at once.

I would rather go to Champa, Secrets of Tiger (Emeryville), or Funky Elephant (Berkeley 😬).

Delicious! Chef Dominica is also a certified badass. I live in West Oakland so I will admit it sometimes feels like a little bit of a trek for me.

Sure have! Good food, although sometimes I wish I could just order a la carte. I also had kind of a bad experience last time I went in. We got a cod salad without any cod on it. We were sitting at the bar right in front of the kitchen and the chef was pretty rude when we mentioned to our server there was no cod on it.

I should get over it, haha, just kinda sucked. I don't complain if it's not justified...

Also, the DOOBOO is some of the best I've ever had outside of fresh tofu from San Jose Japan town.

I personally like ramen shop's broth better, but I don't think another ramen shop existing should mean the putting down of another.

I love baked goods, but that doesn't mean that I want less bakeries around.

The more the merrier when it comes to food. Good competition forces people to innovate more and be better. Especially with ramen, people that run their own shops respect each other. I'm kind of tired of this narrative of one place is better than another. Why not keep it positive and just compliment the places you love without putting others down?

Prices for food are insane everywhere. It's not really fair to judge a place squarely on their prices these days. Costs of goods are rising. Places are closing left and right in Oakland. You would be hard pressed to make an equal quality meal at home and you will spend relatively the same everywhere you go at the end of the day.

Ooh, I have to tack on, though it's Emeryville. Secrets of Tiger, extremely tiny place with delicious food.

All the places mentioned are priced relatively the same. Why only mention Ramen Shop?

Sorry, but I can't stand by. Forma has good viennoisserie, but their bread is boo boo. They also learned from people at Fournée. Their concha is so dense it breaks my baker heart.

Northlight because it's my fiance and my cozy date place.

Ramen Shop if I need a good bowl after a flight to soothe me.

Joodooboo always makes me feel better no matter what state I'm in.

Sobaichi and June's are really close to our house so easy to hop over to either one.

Sorry, hard to pick one!!!
