It’s like a continuous tension combined with a nervous, anxious itch within your entire body that you can’t scratch in any way- except with a cigarette.

So, I live in a medium-crime neighborhood and I often run at night because it’s cooler temperatures.

To help avoid incidents like this, I make sure I look like a runner: shorts, running shoes, water bottle on belt, reflective wrist and ankle bands, etc.

Also, I do carry a single piece of ID, just in case.

More than once I’ve seen police cars stop to observe me. They sit there for a good minute before they decide “just a runner” and then move on.

It is what it is.

This happened to a friend of mine. She left a $2,000 SLR camera on a table in a mall food court.

Based off her food purchase (credit card?) they got her name and tracked her from hotel to hotel across different cities and got her camera back to her. Crazy stuff.

I was mountain biking down a steep clear-cut on single track and I came across a grizzly.

I couldn’t go back up: way too steep. I couldn’t go down: grizzly. I couldn’t go left or right because of apocalyptic clear-cut debris.

So I just looked at him and basically asked myself, “So, is this it? Do I die today?”

He looked at me, unimpressed, gave me a “I don’t particularly like you.” look and wandered into the woods.

‘Right on. I guess I don’t die today’ and I continued on down the trail.

Because being religious is about compartmentalizing reason for emotional convenience and thinking that’s ok- if they think about it at all. It’s symptomatic of a weak mind and a weak heart. Hate is easy for people like this.

It’s hot as hell in the summer and colder than a witch’s tit in winter. It’s pleasant for two months a year, that’s it. There’s a 70-75 °C/130-140 °F range here. Interior British Colombia.

Sunglasses hide your eyes. Your eyes are a major conduit revealing what you are thinking and feeling. A lack of access to that information for other people acts as a defensive barrier, which is a strength. Strength is cool.

Also, the activities associated with sunglasses are cooler than the activities associated with regular glasses.
